    Article Summary

    Available in Classic and VPC

Manage live stream settings refers to settings for the options that determine the quality of the Live streaming. The quality of the Live streaming can be affected by factors such as Live streaming settings, performance and condition of the device used, the bandwidth and stability of the network, and the subject being captured. While all these elements are important, you can set the Live streaming video quality in the app through the Manage live stream settings.

    Live ready screen

Launch the B2B PRISM Live Studio mobile app, and then click the [LIVE] button in the function tab at the bottom of the screen to enter Live mode. Click the [Ready] button at the bottom of the Live mode screen to go to the Live ready screen. The [Go Live] button is displayed at the bottom of the Live ready screen.
If the target Streaming platform is selected on the Live ready screen, the b2bpls-pic_quality icon is displayed at the bottom of the channel information card. Click the b2bpls-pic_quality icon indicating the Resolution currently set, located just below the name of the target Streaming platform, to go the Stream quality menu.

    Stream quality

The Stream quality menu provides settings for the Live streaming video quality including Resolution, Video quality, Bitrate, Frame rate, and Keyframe interval options. The values set for each item are maintained until you edit them again, applying to future Live streaming.

    Resolution

Set the Resolution of the Live streaming. You can select one of these Resolutions: 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p.

    • Selecting the highest Resolution, 1080p, requires streaming more video data than per unit time. Therefore, if the current network bandwidth is insufficient, buffering may occur because video data Streaming may not smooth.
    • Consider the bandwidth and stability of the current network to select an appropriate Resolution. If viewers primarily use mobile devices with small screens, they can experience sufficient quality even with a 720p Resolution.
    • If Streaming is not smooth due to insufficient net work bandwidth, test by gradually lowering the Resolution to find the optimal Resolution.

    Video quality

Set the Video quality option for Live streaming. The B2B PRISM Live Studio mobile app provides two Video quality adjustment options, Adaptive and Fixed.

    Adaptive

When the Adaptive option is set, B2B PRISM Live Studio mobile app's Streaming module dynamically determine the amount of Bitrate used per unit in Live streaming video. The function determining the amount of Bitrate dynamically is called Adaptive Bitrate Publish (ABP).
Even when the current network bandwidth is insufficient and temporarily unstable, through ABP, the quality of the Live broadcast may be degrade but can still be forwarded to viewers without buffering.

    Note

Buffering, the interruption of Live broadcast, can lead to a highly negative viewer experience. Therefore, it's best to select the Adaptive option of the Live streaming feature for smooth Live streaming.

    Fixed

When the Fixed option is set, the amount of Bitrate used per unit time in Live streaming video is set to a fixed value you selected. When the current network bandwidth is insufficient and temporarily unstable, fragments of the Live streaming video generated on your device may not be forwarded to viewers. In such cases, viewers may experience buffering, so select the Fixed option only when a sufficiently stable network is ensured for using the Live streaming feature.

    Bitrate

It's an option to set the amount of data used in the Live streaming video per 1 second. 6000 kbps, the value of the option, refers to 6000 kilobits per second. Additionally, because 1 bit equals 8 bytes, the amount of data used in the Live streaming video is 750 KB per 1 second.
Generally, the recommended Bitrate for a Resolution of 1080p is 6000 kbps to 4000 kbps, while a Resolution of 720p is 4000 kbps to 2500 kbps. Using a Bitrate higher than the recommended Bitrate doesn't significantly improve the quality of the Live streaming video. The PRISM Live Studio mobile app recommends the optimal Bitrate for your current environment.

    Note

Use the recommended Bitrate as far as possible for smooth Live streaming.

    Frame rate

All videos, including Live streaming videos, are all composed of multiple photos. The human eye perceives rapidly transitioning images as a video. The Frame rate refers to the photos that make up a 1-second video or the number of frames. Therefore, higher Frame rates can create smoother motion.

    • Frame rate menu options include 15 fps, 24 fps, 30 fps, and 60 fps.
      • The 60 fps option is available only in the B2B PRISM Live Studio iOS app and is not provided in the B2B PRISM Live Studio Android app for stability.
      • The 30 fps option is the most commonly used. Lowering the Frame rate per unit time can reduce the size of Live streaming video data. If Streaming is not smooth due to insufficient net work bandwidth, test by gradually lowering the Frame rate to find the optimal Frame rate.

    Keyframe interval

As mentioned earlier, all videos, including Live streaming videos, are all composed of multiple images. During the encoding process of Live streaming videos, various video zipping techniques are used to reduce their size. Among these techniques, there is a zip technique utilizing only the changing parts in consecutive photos to reduce the size of the video. However, even in this zipping process, complete photos are inserted per unit time to prevent quality degradation.
Keyframe represents the complete photo here. The Keyframe interval refers to the time interval at which a complete photo is inserted into the video. The available options are 1 s, 2 s, and 3 s.

    Note

Major global live platforms recommend using a Keyframe interval of 2 seconds in Streaming tools. The default Keyframe interval of the B2B PRISM Live Studio mobile app is also 2 seconds. Use the recommended Keyframe interval as far as possible for smooth Live streaming.
