    Article Summary

    Available in Classic and VPC

You can easily perform the backup, remote backup, and restoration of data by using Backup service of NAVER Cloud Platform. You can view how to use it from getting started with Backup and using Backup, but we recommend viewing the complete scenario of the Backup service. If you learn the usage scenarios and view how to use it, you can experience more efficient use of the Backup service. Backup service has the following order in general to use the service and step by step explanations:

    1. Set usage permissions
    2. Advance work
    3. Create resource
    4. Create storage
    5. Create policy
    6. Create task
    7. Create schedule
    8. Create remote backup task
    9. Manage backup

    1. Set usage permissions

When Backup service is needed to manage and share together, you can assign permissions per user and operate the system. You can configure the permissions as administrator and user through Sub Account in NAVER Cloud Platform, and roles can be defined for each permission. As setting usage permissions is not a mandatory setup category, you can build the setting anytime you need permissions while using Backup service or clear it at any time.

    Note

Sub Account is a free service provided upon subscription request without additional charge. For more introduction on Sub Account and more information about its pricing plans, see Service > Management & Governance > Sub Account on NAVER Cloud Platform portal.

    2. Advance work

To use Backup service, you need a server where the original data is stored. If you do not have any server or DBMS in use, you can use Server service on NAVER Cloud Platform. See the following user guides:

    3. Create resource

Create a resource through the server where the original data is stored. Resource is the minimum unit to use Backup service. Agent is installed into the server along with the creation of the resource. When you install DB agent, you must add DB instance after the completion of the installation. See the following user guides:

    Note

If you fail to install the agent, you must install the agent separately.

    4. Create storage

Create a storage that store backup data. When you create storages in different zones, you can use them for remote backup task. See the following user guides:

    5. Create policy

Create a policy that you can apply to the backup. You can set the storage of backup data and the retention period by adopting a newly created policy into the task. Policies can be created for each storage and single policy is only applied to single task. See the following user guides:

    6. Create task

Create a task that will go through the backup. You can designate the original data for backup and select the policy to be adopted for the task. See the following user guides:

    7. Create schedule

Create a backup schedule. You can perform the backup regularly according to the created backup schedule. See the following user guides:

    8. Create remote backup task

Create a remote backup task. If you store backup data in a different zone separately through the remote backup task, you can store the data more safely. See the following user guides:

    9. Manage backup

When the original data is unapproachable or lost, you can restore the data by using the backup data and the remote backup data. In addition, you can view the event about Backup service usage via report. See the following user guides:
