Available in Classic
In Backup, you can view the backup information configured per server to safely store cached data for users using Cloud DB for MSSQL. If an incident occurs and cached data is lost, you can restore the data using the stored backup files. Both servers using high availability settings and stand-alone servers can use backup and restore features.
Before using backup and restore, it is recommended that you understand the basic backup execution rules provided by Cloud DB for MSSQL. The basic backup execution rules are:
- Backup execution method
- Full backup: Performed once per day
- Select between automatic settings and custom settings
- Automatic settings: A random time is assigned when the MSSQL server is created, and backups are performed at a similar time to the first backup thereafter.
- User-defined settings: Backup starts within 15 minutes after the user-selected time.
- Log backup: Performed automatically at 15-minute intervals. The time cannot be configured.
- Backup files
- Retention period: Can be retained for up to 30 days based on user settings.
- Storage location: Stored in separate data storage (storage contracts depend on backup file size).

Recovery
Cloud DB for MSSQL provides a service that lets you restore lost data using backup files and quickly create an MSSQL server. You can recover an MSSQL server by selecting a desired backup file from the stored backup list. To restore:
- Backup files store data as of the time when the backup completed. Therefore, restoration uses data from the backup completion time.
- During restoration, the server is restored with the specifications saved in the backup file. If you want to upgrade the server specifications after restoration, use the Change DB specs feature in the DB server menu.
- In the Classic environment of the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Database > Cloud DB for MSSQL. - Click the Backup menu.
- In View details for the backup settings row to restore, click [Details].
- Click [Recover].
- When the DB Restore popup appears, review the specifications of the new server and the recoverable time based on the backup.

- Enter the name of the new DB service to be created.
- Enter 3-15 characters using Korean, English letters, numbers, and hyphens (-)
- Duplicate names are not allowed
- Set the date and time to restore within the recoverable time range confirmed in step 5.
- Click [Confirm] to review the information of the database to be restored.
- DB name: Database name used for restoration
- Recovery model: Database model type used for restoration
- Full backup size: Size of the full backup file used for restoration (MB)
- Log backup size: Size of the log backup files used for restoration (MB)
- Log backup count: Number of log files used for restoration One file is created every 15 minutes.
- DB restore point: Point in time to which the database is restored
- Click [Configure].
- Check the status of the server being restored in the MSSQL server list on the DB server interface.
- Creating: The MSSQL server is being created (restored) based on the entered information.
- Configuring: The MSSQL server is being created (restored) and configured based on the entered information.
- Running: The MSSQL server has been created (restored) and configured, and application servers can connect to it.
Server restoration may take some time (minutes) to complete.
