Server specifications

For NAVER Cloud Platform's Cloud DB for MSSQL, you can flexibly select from various types of server type and use them according to your service size. For server specifications supported by Cloud DB for MSSQL, see Services > Database > Cloud DB for MSSQL in the portal.

Service limits when changing server specifications

While the type of MSSQL server that has been created and is in operation can't be changed, the size of available memory can always be changed using the Change specifications feature of the MSSQL server menu in the console. When creating a server with G3 in the Korea Region, you can change the server type. For the upgrade method, see DB Server. However, a few service limits exist when changing the server specifications. You need to fully understand these restrictions before changing the server specifications. The service limits are as follows:

  • They can only be changed within the same type.
  • If configured with 2 or more servers (use of high availability), then they will all be changed to the same specifications
  • The server restarts upon completion of the change. Therefore, the service may possibly be affected.

Server redundancy configuration

Cloud DB for MSSQL supports the high availability (HA) feature. If Principal Server can no longer provide normal service due to a failure, then it automatically failover to mirror server. As the redundancy is configured with the DNS method, no additional application change is required. When MSSQL server creating the from the NAVER Cloud Platform console, you can select whether to use high availability (HA). The server configuration will then change according to the use status.

Caution
  • If you use SQL server management studio (SSMS) or create a database directly, you must select the full recovery model option to enable mirroring configuration.
  • The completion of failover may take several minutes or longer.
