    This guide explains how to create and manage dashboard and widgets in Dashboard.

    Dashboards are divided into service dashboards, configured so that the basic metrics of the NAVER Cloud Platform product linked with Cloud Insight can be seen at a glance, and user dashboards, created directly by users. To distinguish the two types of dashboards, a service dashboard is displayed in the form of Service dashboard/product name.

    To access the Dashboard menu, connect to the NAVER Cloud Platform portal, and then click the [Console] > Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) > Dashboard, in that order.

    Dashboard page

    The Dashboard page is laid out as follows.

  • Click the dashboard name to view the dropdown dashboard list.
  • Full dashboard listClick to view and manage the dashboard list. (Refer to View full dashboard list)
  • You can change the order of dashboards on the list, as well as modify/delete/set the dashboard as home dashboard.
  • Manage dashboardClick to see the dashboard management menu.
  • Modify: Click to modify the dashboard. (Refer to Modify dashboard)
  • Save as: Click to create a new dashboard with an identical configuration. (Refer to Copy dashboard)
  • Edit source (JSON): Click to edit the dashboard source, import, or export. (Refer to Edit dashboard source (JSON))
  • Lock layout: Click to lock the dashboard layout. If it's already locked, then Unlock layout will be displayed. Click it to unlock the layout. (Refer to Dashboard layout lock settings)
  • Set as home dashboard: Click to set the dashboard as the home dashboard. (Refer to Home dashboard settings)
  • Delete dashboard: Click to delete the dashboard. (Refer to Delete dashboard)

  • i-cloudinsight_download: Click to download the widget data. (Refer to Download widget data)
  • i-cloudinsight_refresh: Click to refresh the data.
  • i-cloudinsight_expansion: Click to see the widget zoomed in.
  • i-cloudinsight_setting: Click to view the widget management menu.
  • i-cloudinsight_change: Drag and drop to adjust the widget size.
  • Note

    Displayed and enabled features vary, depending on the dashboard (service dashboard, user dashboard).

    View dashboard

    The following describes how to view dashboards.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
      • The home dashboard is displayed.
    3. To see another dashboard, click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard to view from the dashboard list that is displayed.

    Create dashboard

    The following describes how to create a dashboard.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the [Create dashboard] button.
    4. Enter the dashboard name and description in the creation pop-up window, and then click the [Create] button.

    Add widget

    Note

    Widgets can be added only on a user dashboard, and the [Add widget] button is only enabled on user dashboards as well.

    The following describes how to add a widget.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to add widgets to.
    4. Click the [Add widget] button.
    5. When the widget creation page appears, proceed with the following steps in order.

    1. Basic information settings

    Enter the widget's name, select the type of the widget to add, and then click the [Next] button.

    Note

    Metrics for multiple services can be displayed side by side on Time series, Table, Index, or Markdown widgets, whereas metrics for only one service can be displayed on a Pie chart widget.

    2. Data settings

    1. Select the metric's service to be displayed on the widget under Product type.

    2. Select Target.

      • The options available are Group and All available resources. For Server (VPC), you can also select Auto Scaling.

      • If you've chosen Group, then select a monitoring target group.

        • Click the [Create monitoring target group] button to create a target group. For more details about creating target groups, refer to Create target group.
      • If you've chosen All available resources, then select the targets to monitor among the resources you have.

      • If you've chosenAuto Scaling Group, then select the targets to monitor among the Auto Scaling Groups you have.

        Note

        When you select Auto Scaling Group, it dynamically includes the fluctuating number of servers according to the policy set by the Auto Scaling Group. The sync of the group may vary according to the data collection interval.

    3. Select Metric.

      • You can choose Template or All metrics.
      • If you've chosen Template, then select a monitoring item group (rule template).
        • You can click the [Create monitoring template] button to create a rule template. For more details about creating rule templates, refer to Create rule template.
      • If you've chosen All metrics, then select items to monitor from all metrics displayed.
        • The metrics being collected for the service are displayed. You can also enter a metric ID in the search window to search for one.
    4. Click the [Add selected item] button.

      • The selected data will be added to the Set data list.
    5. Configure the metrics on Set data list.

      • To delete data from the set data list, select the data you want to delete, and then click the [Delete] button.

      • Dimension: dimensions being collected for the monitoring target

        • You can select Enter manually to enter dimensions to be collected in the future, even though they are not being collected at the moment, in the key.value format.
      • Interval: metric's monitoring interval

      • Aggregation: metric's aggregation function

      Note

      The supported monitoring intervals and aggregation functions differ, depending on the metric. Refer to Cloud Insight service list.

    6. Click the [Next] button.

    3. Final confirmation

    Change the metric settings to be displayed on the widget according to the widget type selected, check through the preview, and then click the [Create] button.

    Time Series

    • You can set the period for preview.
      • Click the [Now] button to see the data as of the current time.
    • Set the data to display on the widget under the [Data list] tab.
      • Click to deselect the checkbox for the data you don't want displayed on the widget.
      • The following items can be set.
        • Alias: metric name displayed on the widget
        • Y axis: location of the Y-axis where the metric's value will be displayed
        • Color: metric value's color to be shown on the widget
          • You can set the color by entering the color code manually, as well as the colors provided.
    • Set the type of the time series widget in the [Options] tab.
      • You can select a type and see how it's going to look via preview.
      • If you've selected the Chart type to be Line, Area, or Bar, then you can set the following items.
        • Whether to use Auto scale
        • Label, Unit, Max, Min, and Function for the left Y-axis and right Y-axis
          • Configure the Left Y-axis and Right Y-axis according to the Y-axis settings.

    Pie Chart

    • You can use the search filter to set the period for preview.
      • Click the [Now] button to see the data as of the current time.
    • Set the data to display on the widget under the [Data list] tab.
      • Click to deselect the checkbox for the data you don't want displayed on the widget.
      • The following items can be set.
        • Alias: metric name displayed on the widget
        • Color: metric value's color to be shown on the widget
          • You can set the color by entering the color code manually, as well as the colors provided.
    • Set the legend's location in the [Options] tab.
      • The options available are left, right, top, or bottom section of the pie chart.

    Table

    • You can check the values configured in Set data list in Preview.
      • Click the [Refresh] button to refresh the preview screen.
    • You can view the values displayed in rows and columns on Set data list.
      • Click the [Transpose column/row data] button to transpose the data displayed in rows and columns in the table.
      • The following items can be set according to the row/column settings on the tab where the metrics are displayed.
        • Alias: metric name displayed on the widget
        • Display type: data display format (whether to include the measurement units)
        • Condition: metric value's conditions The data that matches the condition is displayed in a different color.

    Index

    • You can use the search filter to set the period for preview.
      • Click the [Now] button to see the data as of the current time.
    • Set the data to display on the widget under the [Data list] tab.
      • Click to deselect the checkbox for the data you don't want displayed on the widget.
      • The following items can be set.
        • Alias: metric name displayed on the widget
        • Color: metric value's color to be shown on the widget
          • You can set the color by entering the color code manually, as well as the colors provided.
    • Drag and drop the data to change and set the order of the data displayed on the widget in the [Options] tab.

    Markdown

    • You can edit the markdown manually using the markdown syntax in Markdown, and the edited content can be checked in Preview.
    • Each metric's value can be written in the ${Variable Name} format, and their variable names can be modified under the [Data list] tab.

    Manage dashboard

    NAVER Cloud Platform supports various features for managing dashboards. Management features supported for each dashboard type are as follows.

    View full dashboard list

    The following describes how to view the full dashboard list.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the [Full dashboard list] button.
      • You can see the full list of dashboards in the dashboard list pop-up window.

        • You can change the order of dashboards by dragging and dropping a dashboard name.
        • You can select a dashboard, click the [Modify]/[Delete]/[Set as home dashboard] button, and then click the [Apply] button to modify/delete/set the dashboard as home dashboard.
        Note

        Service dashboards can't be modified or deleted.

    Modify dashboard

    You can modify the dashboard name and description of user dashboards.

    The following describes how to modify a dashboard.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to modify.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Modify.
    5. Edit the dashboard name and description in the modification pop-up window, and then click the [Modify] button.
    Note

    You can also modify a dashboard from the dashboard list pop-up window. Refer to View full dashboard list.

    Copy dashboard

    You can copy a user dashboard previously created to create a new dashboard with identical settings.

    The following describes how to create a new dashboard by copying an existing dashboard.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to copy.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Save as.
    5. Enter the name and description for the new dashboard to create in the Save as pop-up window, and then click the [Create] button.

    Edit dashboard source (JSON)

    You can edit source of user dashboards with the dashboard source editing (JSON) feature, or import or export the dashboard source file.

    The following describe how to edit dashboard source.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to edit the source.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Edit source (JSON).
    5. Edit the dashboard source in the dashboard source editing (JSON) pop-up window, and then click the [OK] button.
      • You can click the [Import] button to import a JSON file as the dashboard source.
      • You can click the [Export] button to export the dashboard source as a JSON file.

    Dashboard layout lock settings

    You can lock a user dashboard's layout so that the size or order of the widgets on it can't be changed. You can also unlock a locked layout.

    Note

    Service dashboards are provided already locked, so the size or order of the widgets can't be changed. The layout's lock settings can't be arbitrarily modified.

    The following describes how to lock or unlock a dashboard's layout.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to lock the layout.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Lock layout.
      • The dashboard's layout will be locked. In this state, you can't change the size and order of widgets on it.
      • If the layout's locked, you can click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Unlock layout to unlock it.

    Home dashboard settings

    The home dashboard is what you see upon entering the Dashboard menu. You can set the dashboard you check frequently as your home dashboard for quick access.

    The following describes how to set a dashboard as home dashboard.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to set as home dashboard.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Set as home dashboard.
    5. In the notification pop-up window, click the [OK] button.
    Note

    You can also use the Set as home dashboard feature on the dashboard list pop-up window. Refer to View full dashboard list.

    Delete dashboard

    Note

    Service dashboards can't be deleted. Only user dashboards can be deleted.

    The following describes how to delete a dashboard.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to delete.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Delete dashboard.
    5. Check the details in the notification pop-up window, and then click the [Delete] button.
    Note

    You can also delete a dashboard from the dashboard list pop-up window. Refer to View full dashboard list.

    Manage widget

    NAVER Cloud Platform supports various features for managing widgets. Widget management features supported for each dashboard type are as follows.

    Modify widget

    You can modify widgets you added yourself.

    The following describes how to modify a widget.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard that has the widget to modify.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting of the widget to modify, and then click Modify.
    5. Adjust the data settings, and then click the [Next] button.
      • To change the widget name or type, click the [Back] button.
        • If the widget type is Time series, Table, Index, or Markdown, then the type can't be changed to Pie chart. If the widget's type is Pie chart, then the widget type can't be changed.
      • For more details about data settings step, refer to 2. Data settings.
    6. Check the changes through the preview, and then click the [Modify] button.

    Copy widget

    You can copy a widget you created yourself and add a widget with identical settings.

    The following describes how to add a new widget by copying an existing widget.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard that has the widget to copy.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting of the widget to copy, and then click Save as.
    5. Set basic information for the widget, and then click the [Next] button.
      • If you choose the widget type as Pie chart, then it can only show metrics for a single service.
    6. Set data to be displayed on the widget, and then click the [Next] button.
    7. Change the metric settings according to the widget type, check through the preview, and then click the [Create] button.
    Note

    If the configuration doesn't require changes, then you can click the [Next] > [Next] > [Create] buttons, in that order, from the widget creation page without a separate configuration change to add a new widget.

    Adjust widget size and position

    You can adjust size and position of widgets you added yourself.

    The following describes how to adjust a widget's size and position.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard that has the widget you want to adjust the size or position.
    4. To adjust the widget's size, click i-cloudinsight-change on the bottom right of the widget, and drag and drop to adjust it to the size you want.
    5. To change the widget's position, drag the widget and drop it in the position you want.

    Change widget data

    You can select data to view with the Change widget data feature in a service dashboard.

    The following describes how to change widget data.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to view data.
    4. Click the [Change widget data] button.
    5. Select the data to be displayed on the dashboard.
      • The following data is displayed according to the selection you made.
        • Top 10: data for top 10 (default)
        • Group: data for the target group
        • All resources: data for the resources selected among all resources

    Change widget metric monitoring interval

    You can change metric monitoring interval for widgets you added yourself.

    The following describes how to change monitoring interval of the metrics displayed on a widget.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard that has the widget where you want to change the monitoring interval.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting of the widget you want to change the monitoring interval, and then click Change monitoring interval.
    5. Change the monitoring interval in the monitoring interval change pop-up window, and then click the [Complete] button.

    Download widget data

    You can download the data included in a widget in JSON, CSV, XLS, or PNG formats.

    The following describes how to download a widget's data.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.

    2. Click the Dashboard menu.

    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard that has the widget to download data.

    4. Click the [Download widget data] button.

      Note

      Widget data can also be downloaded using the following methods.

      • Click the widget's i-cloudinsight_download on the service dashboard.
      • Click the widget's i-cloudinsight_setting on a user dashboard, and then click Download data.
    5. Select the data format and widget to download, and then click the [Download selected widget] button.

    Delete widget

    You can delete widgets you added yourself.

    The following describes how to delete a widget.

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard that has the widget to delete.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting of the widget to delete, and then click Delete.
    5. From the notification pop-up window, click the [Delete] button.
