    Describes how to create and manage dashboards and widgets in Dashboard.

    Dashboards are categorized into service dashboards, which are configured to display basic metrics of NAVER Cloud Platform services integrated into Cloud Insight, and user dashboards, which are created by users. To distinguish between the dashboards, service dashboards are displayed in the form of Service Dashboard/Service Name.

    To access the Dashboard menu, access NAVER Cloud Platform portal and click [Console] > Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) > Dashboard in order.

    Dashboard screen

    The Dashboard page is laid out as follows:

  • Click the dashboard name to view the dashboard drop down list.
  • Full dashboard listClick to view and manage the dashboard list. For more information, see View full dashboard list.

  • ⑧ Widget areaThe service dashboard displays the default metric widget for the service, and the user dashboard displays the widgets you added.

      • Save as: click to create a widget with the same settings. For more information, see Copy widget.
      • Download data: click to download the widget data. For more information, see Download widget data.
      • View larger: click to see a larger view of the widget.
      • Change view interval: click to change the metric view interval. For more information, see Change widget metric view interval.

  • Note

    Depending on the type of dashboard (service dashboard and user dashboard), features are displayed and enabled differently.

    View dashboard

    To view dashboards, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
      • The home dashboard is displayed.
    3. To view another dashboard, click the dashboard name and then click the dashboard you want to view in the dashboard list that appears.

    Note

    Each time you select a view period, the metric View interval changes to Auto for all widgets.
    When the view interval is set to Auto, the view interval optimized for the view period is applied. For more information on optimized view intervals by view period, see Cloud Insight prerequisites page.

    Create dashboard

    To create dashboards, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the [Create dashboard] button.
    4. In the Create popup window, enter a dashboard name and description, and then click the [Create] button.

    Add widget

    Note

    Only user dashboards have the [Add widget] button enabled, which allows you to add widgets.

    To add a widget, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, then click the dashboard to which you want to add the widget.
    4. Click the [Add widget] button.
    5. When the create widget page appears, proceed with the following steps in order:

    1. Set basic information

    Enter a name for the widget, select the type of widget you want to add, and click the [Next] button.

    Note

    The Time Series, Table, Index, and Markdown widgets can display metrics for multiple services together, but the Pie Chart widget can display metrics for only one service.

    2. Set data

    1. For Product Type, select the service for the metric you want to display in the widget.

    2. Select a Target.

      • You can choose from Group and All owned resources, or, for Servers (VPCs), you can also select Auto Scaling.

      • If you selected Group, select a target group to monitor.

        • You can create a target group by clicking the [Create target group] button. For more information on creating a target group, see Create target group.
      • If you selected All owned resources, select a target to monitor from the resources you own.

      • If you selected Auto Scaling Group, select a target to monitor from Auto Scaling Groups you own.

        Note

        Selecting an Auto Scaling Group dynamically includes servers that are scaled up or down based on the policies set by the Auto Scaling Group, but the synchronization of the group might vary slightly depending on the data collection cycle.

    3. Select a Metric.

      • You can choose from Template and All metrics.
      • If you select Template, select a rule template to use.
        • You can create a rule template by clicking the [Create rule template] button. For more information on creating a rule template, see Create rule template.
      • If you selected All metrics, select the items you want to monitor from the entire displayed metrics.
        • The metrics collected for the service are displayed, and you can search for them by entering the metric ID in the search bar.
    4. Click the [Add selection] button.

      • The selected data is added to the Setup data list.
    5. Configure settings for the metric in the Setup data list.

      • To delete data from the setup data list, select the data you want to delete and click the [Delete] button.

      • Dimensions: dimensions that are being collected for the monitored target

        • You can select Enter manually to enter the dimensions that are not currently collected but will be collected in the future in the form of key.value.
      • Interval: metric view interval

      • Aggregation: metric aggregation function

      Note

      Supported intervals and aggregations vary by metric. For more information, see Cloud Insight service list.

    6. Click the [Next] button.

    3. Final confirmation

    Depending on the type of widget you selected, change the metric settings to be displayed in the widget, preview it, and click the [Create] button.

    Time Series

    • You can set the time period for the preview.
      • Click the [Current] button to view data based on the current time.
    • In the [Data list] tab, set the data to be displayed in the widget.
      • Click the checkbox to deselect the data you do not want to display in the widget.
      • You can set the following items:
        • Alias: name of the metric to display in the widget
        • Y-Axis: Y-axis location to display the value of the metric
        • Color: color of the metric value displayed in the widget
          • In addition to the provided colors, you can enter and set your own color codes.
    • In the [Options] tab, set the type of Time Series widget.
      • You can select a type to preview.
      • If you selected the Chart Type as Line / Area / Bar, you can set the following:
        • Whether to use Auto Scale
        • Label, Unit, Max, Min, and Function for Left Y-axis and Right Y-axis
          • Set the Left Y-axis/Right Y-axis according to the Y-axis settings.

    Pie Chart

    • You can set the time period to preview using the view filter.
      • Click the [Current] button to view data based on the current time.
    • In the [Data list] tab, set the data to be displayed in the widget.
      • Click the checkbox to deselect the data you do not want to display in the widget.
      • You can set the following items:
        • Alias: name of the metric to display in the widget
        • Color: color of the metric value displayed in the widget
          • In addition to the provided colors, you can enter and set your own color codes.
    • In the [Options] tab, set the position of the legend.
      • You can choose from left, right, top, and bottom of the pie chart.

    Table

    • You can see the values you have set in the Setup data list in Preview.
      • Click the [Refresh] button to update the preview.
    • You can view the values displayed in the rows and columns in the Setup data list.
      • Click the [Switch column/row data] button to switch the values displayed in the rows and columns of the table.
      • Depending on the row/column settings, you can set the following items on the tab where the metric is displayed:
        • Alias: name of the metric to display in the widget
        • Display Type: data display format (with or without units)
        • Condition: metric value condition. If the data matches the condition value, it is displayed in a different color.

    Index

    • You can set the time period to preview using the view filter.

    • On the [Options] tab, drag and drop to set the order of the data displayed in the widget.

    Markdown

    • In Markdown, you can edit the markdown directly using markdown syntax, and you can see the changes in Preview.
    • The value of each metric can be written in the ${Variable Name} format, and the variable name of each metric can be edited on the [Data list] tab.

    Manage dashboard

    NAVER Cloud Platform supports various dashboard management features. The following management features are supported for each dashboard type:

    View full dashboard list

    To view the complete list of dashboards, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the [Full dashboard list] button.
      • In the Dashboard list popup window, you can view the complete list of dashboards.

        • Drag and drop the dashboard names to change the order.
        • Select a dashboard and click [Edit]/[Delete]/[Set as home dashboard], and then click the [Apply] button to edit/delete/set the dashboard as the home dashboard.
        Note

        Service dashboards cannot be edited or deleted.

    Edit dashboard

    You can edit the name and description of user dashboards.

    To edit a dashboard, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to edit.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Edit.
    5. In the Edit popup window, change the dashboard name and description, and then click the [Edit] button.
    Note

    You can also edit a dashboard from the dashboard list popup window. For more information, see View full dashboard list.

    Copy dashboard

    For user dashboards, you can copy an existing dashboard to create a dashboard with the same configuration.

    To create a new dashboard by copying an existing dashboard, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to copy.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Save as.
    5. In the Save as popup window, enter a name and description for the new dashboard, and then click the [Create] button.

    Edit dashboard source (JSON)

    For user dashboards, you can edit the source using the Edit dashboard source (JSON) feature, or import or export the dashboard source to a file.

    To edit a dashboard source, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard whose source you want to edit.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Edit source (JSON).
    5. In the Edit dashboard source (JSON) popup window, edit the dashboard source and click [OK].
      • Click the [Import] button to import the dashboard source as a JSON file.
      • Click the [Export] button to export the dashboard source as a JSON file.

    Set dashboard layout lock

    For user dashboards, you can lock the layout so that the widget size or order cannot be changed, and locked layouts can be unlocked.

    Note

    Service dashboards are available with the layout locked, so the widget size or order cannot be changed, and the lock setting for the layout cannot be changed.

    To lock or unlock a dashboard layout, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard whose layout you want to lock.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Lock layout in order.
      • The dashboard layout is locked to prevent the widget from being resized or reordered.
      • When a layout is locked, you can unlock it by clicking the [Manage dashboard] button, and then clicking Unlock layout.

    Set as home dashboard

    The home dashboard is the first dashboard you can view when you enter the Dashboard menu. You can set your favorite dashboards as your home dashboard for quick access.

    To set a dashboard as your home dashboard, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to set as your home dashboard.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Set as home dashboard.
    5. Click the [OK] button in the notification popup window.
    Note

    You can also use the Set as home dashboard feature from the dashboard list popup window. For more information, see View full dashboard list.

    Delete dashboard

    Note

    You cannot delete service dashboards. You can only delete user dashboards.

    To delete a dashboard, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard you want to delete.
    4. Click the [Manage dashboard] button, and then click Delete dashboard.
    5. Check the details in the notification popup window, and click the [Delete] button.
    Note

    You can also delete a dashboard from the Dashboard list popup window. For more information, see View full dashboard list.

    Manage widget

    NAVER Cloud Platform supports various widget management features. The following widget management features are supported for each dashboard type:

    Edit widget

    You can edit the widgets you have added.

    To edit a widget, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard with the widget you want to edit.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting for the widget you want to edit, and then click Edit.
    5. Change the data settings, and click the [Next] button.
      • To change the widget name or type, click the [Previous] button.
        • You cannot change the widget type to Pie Chart if the widget type is Time Series, Table, Index, or Markdown, and you cannot change the widget type if the widget type is Pie Chart.
      • For more information on the steps to set up your data, see 2. Set data.
    6. Check your changes by previewing them, then click the [Edit] button.

    Copy widget

    You can add a widget with the same settings by copying a previously created widget that you have added.

    To add a new widget by copying an existing widget, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard with the widget you want to copy.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting for the widget you want to copy, and then click Save as.
    5. Set the basic information for the widget, and then click the [Next] button.
      • If you select Pie Chart as the widget type, you can display metrics for only one service.
    6. Set the data to be displayed in the widget, and then click the [Next] button.
      • For more information on the steps to set up your data, see 2. Set data.
    7. Depending on the type of widget, change the metric settings, preview it, and click the [Create] button.
    Note

    If you don't need to change any settings, you can also add a new widget by clicking [Next] > [Next] > [Create] in order on the Create widget screen without changing any settings.

    Set widget size and position

    You can resize and reposition the widgets you have added.

    To set the size and position of a widget, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard with the widget you want to resize or reposition.
    4. To resize the widget, click i-cloudinsight-change at the bottom right corner of the widget, and then drag and drop the widget to the desired size.
    5. To change the position of the widget, drag and drop the widget to the desired location.

    Change widget data

    In service dashboards, you can use the Change widget data feature to select which data to view.

    To change widget data, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard for which you want to view data.
    4. Click the [Change widget data] button.
    5. Select the data to be displayed on the dashboard.
      • Depending on your selection, the data will be displayed as follows:
        • TOP 10: data for the TOP 10 (default)
        • Group: data for the target group
        • All resources: data for selected resources from all resources
    Note

    You can set up to 50 targets as widget data. When targets in the selected group exceed 50, some items only are displayed. Even when you download the data, you can view only up to 50 targets.

    Change widget metric view interval

    You can change the view interval for a metric for the widgets you have added.

    To change the view interval for a metric displayed in a widget, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard with the widget whose view interval you want to change.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting for the widget whose view interval you want to change, and then click Change view interval.
    5. In the change view interval popup window, change the view interval, and then click [Done].
    Note

    The minimum aggregation interval available for selection is determined by the view period. If the selected aggregation interval is smaller than the minimum aggregation interval set for the view period, the dashboard will automatically convert and display it using the minimum aggregation interval. For more information on minimum aggregation intervals by period, see Cloud Insight prerequisites page.

    Download widget data

    You can download the data contained in a widget in the json, csv, xls, png formats.

    To download widget data, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.

    2. Click the Dashboard menu.

    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard with the widget data you want to download.

    4. Click the [Download widget data] button.

      Note

      You can also download widget data as follows:

      • Click i-cloudinsight_download for the widget on the service dashboard.
      • Click i-cloudinsight_setting for the widget on the user dashboard and click Data download.
    5. Click the [Download widget data] button to go to the Convert file page to request widget data.

    6. On the Convert file page, select the view period and view cycle of the data you want to download. You can select these regardless of the values currently set on the dashboard.

      Note

      The view cycle determines how long the data is retained. You cannot select a view cycle where the data retention period is shorter than the view period. For more information on the data retention period for each view cycle, see Cloud Insight prerequisites page.

    7. Select the file format and target widget, and click the [Convert file] button to display a list of files requested for conversion on the Download page.

      • The file formats that can be converted by widget type are as follows:

    8. On the Download page, you can see a list of files requested for conversion and the progress of each file.

      • The file names requested for conversion are created as "dashboardname_widgetname.extension." If your dashboard and widget names contain special characters or emojis, they will be replaced with "_."
      • Progress status is displayed for each file, indicating the terms under which it was requested (view period and view cycle) and whether it is currently available for download.
      • When the file is ready, the progress is marked as complete, and the date it will be available for download is displayed.
    9. Select the file to download from the list and click the [Download] button to download the file. You can download the same file again for 7 days.

      Note

      It takes time for the file to be converted to a downloadable state. If the file becomes un-downloadable or encounters a problem, the progress status will be displayed as "Failed," and a [Retry button] will be added next to the status value to retry the file conversion for the same request.

    Delete widget

    You can delete the widgets you have added.

    To delete a widget, follow these steps:

    1. From NAVER Cloud Platform console, click Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) in order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the dashboard name, and then click the dashboard with the widget you want to delete.
    4. Click i-cloudinsight_setting for the widget you want to delete, and then click Delete.
    5. In the notification popup window, click the [Delete] button.
