Event Rule

This document explains how to create and manage event rules in Event rule.
You can set the targets, items and conditions to be monitored, as well as actions for when an event occurs (SMS/email notifications, integration, Cloud Functions, Auto Scaling policy) by creating event rules.
To access the Event rule menu, connect to the NAVER Cloud Platform portal, and then click the [Console] > Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) > Configuration > Event rule, in that order.
Event rule page
The Event rule page is laid out as follows.

Create event rule
- You can specify the monitoring target group (target group) and monitoring item group (rule template) when creating an event rule to set multiple rules in one event rule. For more details about creating target groups and rule templates, refer to Template.
- You can configure multiple rules in one event rule, and each rule triggers events independently.
The following describes how to create an event rule.
From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
Click the Configuration > Event rule menus, in that order.
Click the [Create event rule] button.
Select a service to be monitored, and then click the [Next] button.
NoteFor services where event rules can be set up through Cloud Insight, refer to Services with performance indicators provided.
Proceed in order according to the following steps.
1. Set monitoring target
Select a target to be monitored, and then click the [Next] button.
You can click the [Create group] button to instantly create a monitoring target group.
You can click the [Manage group] button to go to the Template menu, where you can create monitoring target groups or modify groups previously created.
- For more details about creating target groups, refer to Create target group.
Select Group or Auto Scaling Group or All Retained Resources and select the targets to monitor among the monitoring targets displayed.
If you've chosen Sever (VPC) as the service to monitor, then you can select Auto Scaling Group to select an Auto Scaling Groups as the monitoring target.
NoteWhen you select Auto Scaling Group, it dynamically includes the fluctuating number of servers according to the policy set by the Auto Scaling Group. The sync of the group may vary according to the data collection time.
When you click the [Manage group] button displayed on each target in the target group list, the modification pop-up window for the target group appears.
2. Set monitoring items and conditions
Select items to be monitored, and then click the [Next] button.
- You can click the [Create template] button to instantly create a rule template.
- You can click the [Manage template] button to go to the Template menu, where you can create monitoring templates or modify templates previously created.
- For more details about creating rule templates, refer to Create rule template.
- Select View templates or View all, and select items to monitor among the monitoring items displayed.
- If you've chosen View all, then you can configure Level, Condition, Method, and Duration of each metric on the metric list displayed.
- You can click the [View] button to preview and set the metric data to be displayed on the widget. Refer to Final confirmation for widget creation for more details.
- Click the [View details] button to view the template's details.
- You can click the [Edit template] button to edit the template.
3. Set action
Set actions that follow an event's occurrence, and then click the [Next] button.
- In the [Send notification message] tab, you can set up groups of notification recipients for when events occur, and select the notification method (SMS or email) for each recipient group.
- You can set End notification to On to send additional end notifications when the events that occurred end.
- Refer to Notification recipient for more details about recipient groups.
- Set the action to a channel specified by the user in the [Integration] tab to send event information when an event occurs.
- Integration sends an end notification when an event ends by default.
- Select a trigger in the [Cloud Functions] tab to run the connected trigger when an event occurs.
- Set Recall upon end to On to recall the selected trigger when the event that occurred ends.
- In the [Auto Scaling policy] tab, you can select an Auto Scaling policy to execute events when an event occurs.
- When an event occurs, it is delivered to the Auto Scaling Group. Then, the policy is repeatedly executed according to the cooldown time set in the Auto Scaling policies until the event ends.
- Auto Scaling policy execution ends when the event ends.
- If you want to specify an Auto Scaling policy as an action, then you should click an Auto Scaling Group and select a policy.
- You can set up additional notifications for each tab.
- You can set up Reminder notification interval to send notifications repeatedly until the event that occurred ends. If you keep it blank, the reminder notification won't be set up.
- There may be a delay in notification according to the occurrence/repetition/resolution of an event.
- You can specify recipients of event occurrence notifications in units of target group. When an event occurs, the event information is delivered to all users in the recipient group specified through the designated notification method (SMS or email).
4. Final confirmation
Enter the event rule name and description, check the event rules set up, and then click the [Create] button.
- You can check the monitoring targets, items, and conditions under the [Setting details] tab.
- You can click the [View] button to check the metrics to be displayed on the widget and change settings.
- You can see the list of rules created under the [View all rules] tab.
- Click and select the Deactivate rule checkbox to deactivate the rule.
View rule details
The following describes how to view details of the rule that belongs to an event rule created.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Event rule menus, in that order.
- Select an event rule to view details, and then click the [View all rules] button.
- You'll see the event rule details page.
- You can click the [Modify] button to modify the event rule. For more details about modifying event rule, refer to Modify event rule.
- Click and select the Deactivate rule checkbox to deactivate the rule.
- No event will occur for the rules deactivated as soon as the rule's deactivated. It works independently from other event rules or templates.
Modify event rule
The following describes how to modify an event rule.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Event rule menus, in that order.
- Select the event rule you want to modify, and then click the [Modify] button.
- Apply the changes in the monitoring rules modification page.
- You can click the [Edit] button to modify monitoring target, monitoring items and conditions, and action.
- You can change rules' deactivation status under the [View all rules] tab.
- Click the [Save] button.
Copy event rule
You can copy an existing event rule and create a new event rule with identical settings.
The following describes how to copy an existing event rule and create a new event rule with identical settings.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Event rule menus, in that order.
- Select the event rule you want to copy, and then click the [Save as] button.
- Select the event rule set, and then click the [Create] button.
- Click the [Back] button to change the event rule settings.

Delete event rule
The following describes how to delete an event rule.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Event rule menus, in that order.
- Select the event rule you want to delete, and then click the [Delete] button.
- Check the details in the notification pop-up window, and then click the [OK] button.
