Available in Classic and VPC
Communications between your IoT equipment and Cloud IoT Core are encrypted, based on certificates. Certificates you can issue on Cloud IoT Core include the certificate, chain certificate, root certificate, and private key. It is checked if the server to access on the IoT device through the certificates is the normal Cloud IoT Core server, and the server checks if the user trying to access is normally authenticated. Once the mutual authentication is completed, encrypted communication for security will begin.

Issue certificates
The following describes how to issue the certificate.
- Click Services > Internet of Things > Cloud IoT Core > Certificates on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
- Click [Issue certificates].
- Click [Issue] in the Create certificates pop-up window.
- It may take several minutes to create a certificate. Once created, you will be automatically redirected to the Download certificates page.
- Click the [Download] button of each certificate.
- Certificate: Certificate for qualification proof of device to access Cloud IoT Core
- Private key: Private key of the device paired with the certificate
- Chain certificate: Certificate bundle of a higher authentication agency for verifying the certificate
- Root certificate: Root certificate for authenticating the Cloud IoT Core server
You can only download the private key among the certificates provided by Cloud IoT Core once. After issuing the certificate, save it immediately, and avoid losing the certificate.
Install certificates to IoT devices
Move the certificates stored in a PC to an IoT device using a safe storage medium. You can directly download the certificates if the Internet communication is available on an IoT device.
Download certificate
The following describes how to download the certificate again.
- Click Services > Internet of Things > Cloud IoT Core > Certificates on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
- Click the certificate to download on the list of certificates.
- Click the [Download certificates] button of detailed information.
- Click [Close] after downloading the desired certificates.
Connect certificate
You can connect a certificate to the virtual device you have created. In the Certificates menu, you can check the virtual devices allocated to each certificate at a glance.
The following describes how to connect the certificate.
- Click Services > Internet of Things > Cloud IoT Core > Certificates on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
- Click the certificate in the list of certificates.
- Click the [Connect] button of the connected virtual device.
- After selecting the virtual device for allocating the relevant certificates, click the > button.
- Click the [Save] button.
Separate certificates
The following describes how to separate the certificates connected to the virtual devices.
- Click Services > Internet of Things > Cloud IoT Core > Certificates on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
- Click the certificate in the list of certificates.
- Select the virtual device to separate the certificates from in the connected virtual device area.
- Click the [Separate] button.
- When the pop-up window appears, click the [Separate] button.
Deactivate certificates
To stop the use of certificates for a moment, deactivate the certificates. It judges the messages certified by a deactivated certificate as invalid, and the messages are not received.
The following describes how to deactivate the certificate.
- Click Services > Internet of Things > Cloud IoT Core > Certificates on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
- After selecting the certificates to be deactivated in the list of certificates, click [Deactivate].
- When the pop-up window appears, click [Deactivate].
- In order to activate the deactivated certificates, select the certificates to be activated in the list of certificates, and click [Activate].
