In Masking, you can create and manage user-defined masking rules in addition to the privacy patterns provided by default in the DB & Server Access Control service. Created masking rules can be applied to the logging and masking settings of access control targets.

Masking interface

The following is a basic description of how to use Masking:

Component Description
① Menu name Current menu name.
② Basic features Basic features provided by the DB & Server Access Control service.
  • [Create masking]: Create a user-defined masking rule.
  • [Learn more]: View service details.
  • [Refresh]: Update the screen with the latest information.
③ Masking features Features provided on the Masking interface.
  • [Edit]: Edit masking rules.
  • [Delete]: Delete masking rules.
④ Masking rule list View the list of masking rules with details.
  • Masking name: Name of the masking rule.
  • Regular expression: Regular expression defined in the masking rule.
  • Number of applied Targets: Number of access control targets to which the masking rule has been applied.
  • Memo: Notes about the masking rule.
  • Creation date/time: Date and time the masking rule was created.
  • Details: Masking details.

Create masking

To create a masking rule:

  1. In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Masking.
  2. Click [Create masking].
  3. When the Create masking popup appears, enter the required information.
    • Masking name: Lowercase English letters, numbers, and the special character "-" are allowed. The string must start with an English letter and be between 3 and 30 characters long.
    • Regular expression: Enter a masking pattern of 1,000 bytes or less.
    • Input test data: Enter test data of 1,000 bytes or less to validate the masking pattern.
    • Masking application example: You can check the result of applying the masking rule when inputting test data.
    • Memo: Enter a description of the masking rule that is less than 1,000 bytes.
  4. Click [Create].

Test data and masking application examples are used for validation purposes only and are not saved.

Edit masking

Masking rules can be edited. However, the masking name set during creation cannot be edited.. To edit a masking rule:

  1. In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Masking.
  2. Select the masking rule you want to edit and click [Edit].
  3. When the Edit masking popup appears, edit the required information.
  4. Click [Edit].

Delete masking

To delete a masking rule:

  1. In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Masking.
  2. Select the masking rule you want to delete and click [Delete].
  3. When the Delete masking popup appears, check the masking name, and then click [Yes].
Note

Masking rules applied to access control targets cannot be deleted. To delete, click the [Logging and masking settings] under Access Control Target to disable the masking rule, and then try again.
