    Discover page

    The basics of the Kibana > Discover menu in Web App are as follows.

    • Group: click the basic group item set in the System menu (Default: not set)
      • and click the [Manage group] button in the popup window to set the basic group in the system setup page (Refer to System setup)
    • New: open new discover (Reset search)
    • Save: save as a query
      • Saved queries can be checked in Management > Saved search and can be used as a data source when adding a new widget in the Kibana > Dashboard or Kibana > Visualization menu (Refer to Manage saved search and Dashboard)
    • Open: open a saved query (search)
    • Share: share search result page
    • Inspect: check summary information, request, and received information for the current search results

    Search query

    The following shows how to search logs collected in Effective Log Search & Analytics 2.0 in Web App's Kibana > Discover menu.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click the Kibana > Discover menu.
    3. Enter the query to search in the search bar and press the [Enter] key or click the [Update] button.
    4. Check the search results.
      • To save it as a query in the discovery menu, click i-elsa2-save2 and the [Save current query] button, then set query's name and options in the query saving popup window to save.
        • When searching with the query that is already saved, you can save changes to the query or save it as a new name.
        • To delete the saved query, click i-elsa2-save2 of the item and the [Delete] button in the deletion confirming popup window.

    Save query

    By saving the query you search, you can use it as a data source when adding a new widget in the Kibana > Dashboard or Kibana > Visualization.
    The basics of how to save a query in the Kibana > Discover menu in Web App are as follows.

    For how to save it as a query in the discover menu, see Search query.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click the Kibana > Discover menu.
    3. Enter the query to search in the search bar and press the [Enter] key or click the [Update] button.
    4. Click Save at the upper left of the screen.
    5. Enter the search title in the search saving popup window and click [Save].
      • You can check the saved queries in Management > Saved search. (Refer to Saved search)

    Dashboard

    In the Dashboard menu, you can generate visualized information, such as charts and graphs, based on the collected logs and create a dashboard using the generated visualization.

    Note

    Features in the Dashboard menu are supported based on Kibana. For more information on Kibana, see Kibana Guide.

    Create dashboard

    The basics of how to create a dashboard in the Kibana > Dashboard menu in Web App are as follows.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click Kibana > Dashboard in order.
    3. Click the [Create new dashboard] button.
    4. Click Add.
    5. Select the query list to add to the dashboard or visualization in the Add panels page.
      • The visualization item is added to the dashboard as a widget.
      • [Create new] button: go to creating visualization page (Refer to Create visualization)
    6. Set size adjustment, position moving, additional options, etc. for the added visualization item.
      • Adjust widget size: place the mouse pointer on the corner of the right bottom of the widget, and certain areas will be displayed in different colors. At this point, you can move the mouse pointer while clicking the mouse left button to adjust the widget size.
      • Move widget position: place the mouse pointer on the top of the widget, and certain areas will be displayed in different colors. At this point, you can move the mouse pointer while clicking the mouse left button to move the widget.
      • Widget settings: click i-elsa2-setting to set the widget.
        • Edit search: edit a widget
        • Clone panel: clone a widget and add
        • Edit panel title: edit the title of a widget
        • Inspect: search result information of the widget
        • Maximize panel/Minimize: maximize/minimize the widget size
        • Replace panel: replace a widget(visualization item)
        • Delete from Dashboard: delete the added widget from the dashboard
      • Top menu
        • Group: the basic group set in the System menu (Default: not set)
          • Click the item then the [Manage group] button in the popup window, and you can set the basic group in the system setup page (Refer to System setup)
        • Options: set additional options
          • Use margins between panels: set whether to have a margin between widgets
          • Show panel title: select whether to display the visualization item name
        • Share: share the dashboard page
        • Add: add a visualization item
        • Cancel: cancel edit
        • Save: save the current edit status
      • Enter the query to search in the search bar and press the [Enter] key or click the [Update] button to search logs.

    7. Click Save.
    8. Enter the title and description of the dashboard when the visualization saving popup window appears.
      • Title: enter the title of a dashboard
      • Description: enter the description of a dashboard
      • Add to Dashboard after saving: select whether to add a dashboard after saving a visualization
    9. Click the [Save and return] button.
      • The dashboard is saved, and the added dashboard is displayed as a list in the Kibana > Dashboard menu or if you click Dashboard in the directory displayed on the top left of the page.

    Check dashboard

    The basics of how to check a dashboard in the Kibana > Dashboard menu in Web App are as follows.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click Kibana > Dashboard in order.
    3. Click the title of the dashboard on the list to check.
      • You can search the dashboard using the search feature.
      • Title: displays the entered title when creating the dashboard
      • Description: displays the entered description when creating the dashboard
      • Actions: click i-elsa2-edit2 to go to the dashboard edit page (Refer to Edit dashboard)
    4. Check the dashboard.
      • Top menu
        • Group: the basic group set in the System menu (Default: not set)
          • Click the item then the [Manage group] button in the popup window, and you can set the basic group in the system setup page (Refer to System setup)
        • Full screen: displays the dashboard in full screen
          • To revert back to the basic screen, click the [Exit full screen] button on the bottom
        • Share: share the dashboard page
        • Clone: copy the dashboard and add it to the list
      • Widget options
        • Inspect: search result information of the widget
        • Maximize panel/Minimize: maximize/minimize the widget size
      • Enter the query to search in the search bar and press the [Enter] key or click the [Update] button to search logs.

    Edit dashboard

    The basics of how to edit a dashboard in the Kibana > Dashboard menu in Web App are as follows.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click Kibana > Dashboard in order.
    3. Click i-elsa2-edit2 of the dashboard on the list to edit.
      • Or, click the title of the dashboard and click the [Edit] button in the dashboard page.
      • You can search the dashboard using the search feature.
    4. Edit the dashboard.

    Delete dashboard

    The basics of how to delete a dashboard in the Kibana > Dashboard menu in Web App are as follows.

    Caution

    When you delete a dashboard, all content saved in the dashboard will be deleted and cannot be restored.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click Kibana > Dashboard in order.
    3. Select the dashboard to delete on the list.
      • You can search the dashboard using the search feature.
    4. Click the [Delete n dashboard] button.
      • The 'n' part of the button represents the number of selected dashboards.
    5. From the delete confirming popup window, click [Delete].
      • The Dashboard is deleted and disappeared from the list.

    Visualization

    You can select log data and visualize in the Kibana > Visualization menu.

    Create visualization

    The basics of how to create a visualization in the Kibana > Dashboard menu in Web App are as follows.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click Kibana > Visualization in order.
    3. Click the [Create new visualization] button.
    4. Select the desired visualization type in the new visualization popup window.
    5. Select the data to visualize on the list.
      • The saved query is displayed through Save query.
      • *:log-*: the data source provided by default. Visualize the data
    6. by setting the options in the entire log data creation page.
      • Depending on the visualization type, it may be displayed differently.
      • Top menu
        • Group: the basic group set in the System menu (Default: not set)
          • Click the item then the [Manage group] button in the popup window, and you can set the basic group in the system setup page (Refer to System setup)
        • Inspect: search result information of the visualization item
        • Share: share the visualization page
    7. Click the [Save] button.
    8. Enter the title and description of the visualization when the visualization saving popup window appears.
      • Title: enter the title of a visualization
      • Description: enter the description of a visualization
    9. Click the [Save] button.
      • The dashboard is saved, and the added dashboard is displayed as a list in the Kibana > Dashboard menu or if you click Dashboard in the directory displayed on the top left of the page.

    Check visualization item

    The basics of how to check a visualization in the Kibana > Visualization menu in Web App are as follows.

    1. Access Web App. (Refer to Access Web App)
    2. Click Kibana > Visualization in order.
    3. Click the title of the visualization on the list to check.
      • You can search the dashboard using the search feature.
      • Title: displays the entered title when creating the visualization item
      • Type: displays the selected visualization type when creating the visualization item
      • Description: displays the entered description when creating the visualization item
      • Actions: click i-elsa2-edit2 to edit visualization item(Refer to Edit visualization item)
    4. Check the visualization item.
      • Top menu
        • Group: the basic group set in the System menu (Default: not set)
          • Click the item then the [Manage group] button in the popup window, and you can set the basic group in the system setup page (Refer to System setup)
        • Inspect: search result information of the visualization item
        • Share: share the visualization page

    Edit visualization item

    2. Click Kibana > Visualization in order.
    3. Click i-elsa2-edit2 of the visualization item on the list to edit.
      • You can search the visualization item using the search feature.
    4. Edit the visualization item.

    Delete visualization item

    The basics of how to delete a visualization item in the Kibana > Visualization menu in Web App are as follows.

    Caution
