    Record describes how to add domains, set up records for added domains, change DNSSEC status and so on.

    Record page

    You can check the Record page by clicking Services > Networking > Global DNS > Record menu in NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    The Record page is laid out as follows:

    View domain information

    The following describes how to check the details of domains added to Global DNS.

    1. Connect to NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. From the Region menu, click the region you are using.
    3. From the Platform menu, click the platform you're using.
    4. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    5. Click the Record menu.
    6. Select a domain to be checked from the domain list.
    7. Check domain information displayed on the screen.
      • Domain information
        • Domain: domain name you entered
        • TTL: amount of time that name server's response value to a request from domain is cached and stored. Displayed in seconds.
        • Master NS: domain name of master name server for domain zone
        • Refresh: interval to check whether domain zone data is updated
        • Retry: interval to retry if domain zone data is not updated due to a problem such as a malfunction. Displayed in seconds.
        • Expire: interval to revoke domain zone after multiple retries fail to check whether data is updated. Displayed in seconds.
        • Serial: version number of domain zone. Incremented by 1 with each deployment by changing the record value
      • Record information
        • Host: host name you entered
        • Domain: domain name you entered
        • Record type: record type you selected
        • Record value: record value you entered
        • TTL: interval that name server updates its record. Displayed in seconds.
        • Request date: date and time that record was created for the first time
        • Last change date: date and time that record was changed last

    Add domain

    To add a domain, you must first add a domain name that you purchased or registered in your domain registration agency, and enter the related records.

    Add domain name

    The following describes how to add a domain name registered in your domain registration agency to Global DNS.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Click the [Add Domain] button.
    5. Enter information in the Add domain pop-up window.
      • Name: enter a domain name. English, numbers, hyphen (-), and wildcard (*) can be used.
        • Hyphen (-) cannot be used as last character.
        • No other characters cannot be entered when using a wildcard (*).
      • DNSSEC application: choose whether to apply DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC), a technology to prevent data forgery attacks on DNS data
        • Need to register DS record that is automatically added upon activation in your domain registration agency
      • Description: add a short description of domain
    6. Click the [Add] button.
      • It may take several minutes or longer to add a domain. Once you add a domain, it appears in the domains list, and its circular status icon changes from yellow to blue.

    Add record

    The following describes how to add a record to a domain.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Select a domain to add from the domain list.
    5. Click the [Add record] button.
    6. Enter record information to add in the Add record pop-up window.

      • Host name: enter a host name in the field labeled Record name
      • Record type: select a record type from the dropdown menu labeled A
      • TTL: select a renewal interval of record value from the dropdown menu labeled (5 minutes) 300 seconds
        • Setting a longer TTL will delay reflections when editing the record. Maintain the default value if possible.
        • If you set the TTL to be long, we recommend shortening it before editing the record and lengthening it again after editing is complete.
      • Alias: select a domain with the same type as the record to add as an alias
        • You can only set domains added to Global DNS.
        • If you select A record and use an alias, you can connect it to a load balancer (LB) in a VPC/Classic environment.
      • Record value: enter multiple data for the record type
      • Click i_globaldns_add to add up to 10 records at once
    7. Click the [Add] button.
      • The details of the Input will be added to the record list.
      • The record has been added to Global DNS, but it hasn't been deployed to DNS servers yet. To deploy the record on the DNS server operated by the user, apply the settings.

    Add multiple domains in bulk

    If you want to add a large number of domains, you can organize the data into an Excel file and add them to the console in bulk.
    The following describes how to add a large number of domains in bulk.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Click the [Upload] button at the top of the page.
    5. Click the [Download upload template] button from the file upload pop-up window to download the template file.
    6. Enter domain information in the downloaded template file and save it.

        • When connecting to a load balancer, you must also set the following items.
          • Record type: Enter A
          • Data: Enter the access information of the load balancer
          • Alias use: Enter Y
        LB RegionEnter only when connecting to a load balancer in the VPC environment
        • Enter a region code where the load balancer is located (KR, SGN, JPN)
    7. In the upload pop-up window, drag your file into the Drag the file or click here area or click to select your file.
      • Once the file is recognized, the validation operations will be executed automatically, which may take a few minutes to complete.
    8. Check the validation result to see if any records failed to upload and take appropriate action.
      • Failed records are displayed in a red shade. Check the failed records and edit the file, or delete them and leave only the successful records. If you do not take action, the process of adding records is not executed normally.
      • Clicking the [Download failure list] button downloads an Excel file with only the failed records.
      • Clicking the [Delete all failed items] button deletes all failed records.
    9. If you have completed all action, click the [Add] button on the pop-up window.
      • The process of record application will start and it may take several minutes to complete.
    10. Check the results of the record application in the pop-up window and click the [OK] button.
      • The domain in added to the console, and the records are applied immediately.

    Transfer V1 domain

    You can transfer domains registered in the beta version of DNS (deprecated) v1 to Global DNS. The following describes how to transfer domains.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Click [Import existing V1 domains] button at the top of the page
    5. In the registration pop-up windows, check the domains registered in the existing DNS, select the domains you need to transfer, and click [Register] button.
      • Clicking [Register all] button transfers all domains.

    Change record settings

    You can edit or delete a record added to Global DNS.

    Edit record

    You can edit record type, value and TTL.

    Note
    • SOA records can't be edited.
    • NS records can only edit TTL.

    The following describes how to edit a record.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Select the domain to edit from the domain list.
    5. Select the record to edit from the record list and click the [Edit record] button.
      • You can select multiple records.
    6. In the Edit record pop-up window, edit the content of the entered record.
      • You can modify record type, TTL, and record value.
      • To use the alias feature, select the Enable and enter a domain with the same record type.
    7. After editing is complete, click the [Save] button.
      • The record was edited, but not yet deployed to the DNS server. To deploy the record on the DNS server operated by the user, apply the settings.

    Delete record

    The following describes how to delete a record.

    Note

    SOA, NS records can't be deleted.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Select the domain to delete from the domain list.
    5. Select the record to delete from the record list and click the [Delete record] button.
      • You can select multiple records.
    6. From the Delete record pop-up window, click the [Yes] button.
      • The record was deleted, but not yet deployed to the DNS server. To deploy the record on the DNS server operated by the user, apply the settings.

    Apply settings

    When a record is added, edited, or deleted, it is displayed in a shade, and these changes are applied when you deploy them to a name server.
    The following describes how to apply the changes.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Select the domain to which you want to apply the changes from the domain list.
    5. Click the [Apply settings] button at the top of the screen.
    6. In the Applying settings pop-up window, check the changes and click the [Deploy] button.
      • The changes are applied to the name server.
      • If you click the [Cancel changes] button, the changes will not be applied to the server, and the console screen will be restored to the state before the changes were made.

    View registration agency setup information

    The following describes how to view the information that you need to set in your domain registration agency to use Global DNS.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Select a domain to be checked from the domain list.
    5. Click the [Registration agency setup information] button at the top of the screen.
    6. After checking the setup information, click the [OK] button.

    Change DNSSEC status

    The following describes how to enable or disable DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC), a technology to prevent data forgery attacks on DNS data.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Mouse over the i_globaldns_option of the domain whose DNSSEC status you want to change in the domain list, and then click the Change DNSSEC status.
    5. In the Change DNSSEC status pop-up window, select whether to apply, then click the [Save] button.
      • When enabled, i_globaldns_dnssec is displayed next to the domain name in the domain list, and the DS record is automatically added and applied. To use the service normally, add the DS record to your domain settings in your domain registration agency.
      • When disabled, i_globaldns_dnssec disappears and the DS record is automatically deleted. To use the service normally, delete the DS record from your domain settings in your domain registration agency.

    Delete domain

    The following describes how to delete domains that are no longer in use.

    Note
    • If a domain has records other than SOA and NS, it will not be deleted. Delete the record first, then delete the domain.
    • Deleting a domain from Global DNS does not delete the domain name that you purchased or registered in your domain registration agency. To delete a domain name, delete it from your domain registration agency.
    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Networking > Global DNS menu one by one in the order.
    3. Click the Record menu.
    4. Mouse over the i_globaldns_option of the domain to delete from the domain list, and then click the Delete domain.
    5. Click the [Delete] button from the Delete domain pop-up window.
      • The domain is deleted and disappeared from the list.
