Device Registration

Available in Classic and VPC

At Device registration, you can register IoT devices using the product registered at Product manager. Device registration is a process of adding unique identification information in order to identify and manage each device, and one of selecting and setting which version of products deployed by Product manager to apply to the device at the same time. A product version contains information about the firmware version to install the device, features to use on the device (actions to use), and guide to provide to the user.
A project refers to a group of devices to which a pricing plan of the same subscription type is applied. Accordingly, devices are registered by project. When registering, individual registration of devices is possible, but a large number of devices can also be registered at once.

The basics of using Device registration are as follows.

View the list in Device registration

You can view the information about devices registered in each project. The following describes how to view the information.

1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console's Platform menu, click and select VPC or Classic.
2. Click the Services > Internet of Things > IoT Device Hub menus in this order.
3. Click the Project menu.
4. Click the [Device management console] button.
5. Log in when the device management console page appears.
6. Click the Device Registration menu from the device management console.
7. Click the project to view from the Project list.
8. When the Device list appears, check the required information.
   • Number of registered devices: number of devices registered to the current project
   • Number of maximum registration: maximum number of devices that can be registered depending on the subscription type applied to the project
   • Device ID: device's unique identification value of a 24-digit combination of English lowercase letters and numbers (0 - 9)
   • View status: Click to display the connection status between Cloud IoT Core and CLOVA apps that are linked services in Normal, Not connected, and Error.
   • Current version: version information about the product applied to the device
   • Product type: type of the product applied to the device
   • Product name: name of the product applied to the device
   • Model name: model name of the product applied to the device
   • Device tag: unique value additionally given by the manufacturer to identify the device
   • Registration date: date when the device is registered to the device management console
9. Click the device to check if you want to view its details.
10. When the Device details pop-up window appears, check the required details.
    • Manufacturer: company that made the product applied to the device
    • Product type: type of the product applied to the device
    • Product name: name of the product applied to the device
    • Model name: model name of the product applied to the device
    • Device ID: device's unique identification value of a 24-digit combination of English lowercase letters and numbers (0 - 9)
    • Current version: version information about the product applied to the device
    • Group ID: unique identification value of the project the device belongs to
    • Public key: information about the device's public key
    • Certificate expiration date: date on which the device's certificate is expired
    • Device tag: unique value additionally given by the manufacturer to identify the device
11. Click the [OK] button.

Register device

You can use the product information to register the device. You get to register devices to be used by end users by project and manage them in Device registration.
Devices can be registered individually by entering the device information in the device management console. If there is a lot of devices to register, then you can easily register them in bulk by uploading a large number of device information entered in a separate registration form file.

Individual registration

The following describes how to register devices individually.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Device Registration menu from the device management console.
3. Click the project to register the device.
4. Click the [Register device] button.
5. When the Register device pop-up window appears, enter the information.
   • Select product: Select the product applicable for the device to register among deployed products.
   • Current version: Select the product version to apply to the device to be registered.
   • Device registration method: Click to select Individual registration.
   • Device information

6. Click the [Add] button to register additional devices, and click to delete added devices.
7. Click the [OK] button.

Bulk registration

You can register devices in bulk. In order to register devices in bulk, you should first create a registration file. There is a separate template for the registration file, and the template can be downloaded as follows.

• Click the [Download registration form] button to download from Device Registration.
  
• Click the [Register device] button from Device Registration, and when the Register device pop-up window appears, click to select Bulk registration under Device registration method. And then, click [Download registration form] button under Upload device registration file to download.
  

The following describes how to register devices in bulk.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Device Registration menu from the device management console.
3. Click the project to register the device.
4. Click the [Register device] button.
5. When the Register device pop-up window appears, enter the information.
   • Select product: Select the product applicable for the device to register among deployed products.
   • Current version: Select the product version to apply to the device to be registered.
   • Device registration method: Click to select Bulk registration.
6. Upload file from Upload device registration file.
7. Click the [OK] button.

Enable project

After registering device by project, the device status must be changed to be enabled in order to allow the (end) users to actually use the device through the CLOVA app and to start managing them. However, devices can be enabled by project, not individually. Projects can't be disabled once enabled.

The following shows how to enable a project.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Device Registration menu from the device management console.
3. Click the project to enable.
4. Click the [Enable project] button.
   
5. When the Enable project pop-up window appears, click the [Confirm] button.

Modify device

You can modify tag information about a registered device. The following describes how to modify a device's tag information.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Device Registration menu from the device management console.
3. Click the project where the device to modify belongs.
4. Click the device to modify.
5. When the Device details pop-up window appears, modify the device tag information.
6. Click the [OK] button.

Delete device

You can delete registered devices. The following describes how to delete a device.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Device Registration menu from the device management console.
3. Click the project where the device to delete belongs.
4. Click and select the device to delete, and then click the [Delete selected] button.
5. Click the [OK] button.
