Product Manager

Available in Classic and VPC

You can create and manage products from Product manager. In order to configure and manage IoT services in a cloud environment through IoT Device Hub, you have to register an IoT device with a System-on-Module (SoM) chip mounted on the device management console first. IoT Device Hub defines the abstracted archetype of this IoT device as "product." You have to start with creating a product, which is an archetype of a device, to register the device.
Creation refers to define the product's concept and to set up the firmware version, guide for (end) users, and usable actions. Since the information about the firmware, guide, and usable action may continuously be updated, depending on the registered product, you can keep adding products by version according to the updated information.
Deployment of registration-completed product in different versions so they can be used for actual IoT device registration is also done on Product manager.

The basics of using Product manager are as follows.

View product list

You can find summarized information for products in the list of created products. The following describes how to view the information.

1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console's Platform menu, click and select VPC or Classic.
2. Click the Services > Internet of Things > IoT Device Hub menus in this order.
3. Click the Project menu.
4. Click the [Device management console] button.
5. Log in when the device management console page appears.
6. Click the Project Manager menu from the device management console.
7. When the created product list appears, check the summarized information.
   • Product name: name of the product
   • Model name: model name of the product
   • Product type: type of the product
   • Product description: additional information on the product
   • Number of registered versions: number of products that have been registered
   • Number of deployed versions: number of versions that have been registered and deployed so that they can be used for device registration
   • Latest version registered: information about the product version that has been registered most recently
   • Latest version deployed: information about the product version that has been deployed most recently
   • Product registration date: date on which the product has been created in Product manager
   • Delete product: Click to delete the product. Refer to Delete product for how to use the menu.

View product information

Once you've checked the summarized information about created products on the product list, the following describes how to view each product's details.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Project Manager menu from the device management console.
3. When the list of created products appears, click on the product you wish to view the details.
4. Check the required information.
   
   • Basic information: information about the product creation
     • Product code: unique value automatically created for identification of the product
     • Product type: type of the product, up to two types can be displayed as its main and sub type
     • Product name: product name that the admin entered
     • Model name: model name of the product that the admin entered
     • Manufacturer: company that made the product
     • Product description: additional information on the product
   • Version list: information about version list for the registered product
     • Firmware version: the firmware version to be installed on the device if the device registration is to be done with the version
     • Deployment status: The deployment status of the version is displayed in Not deployed or Deployed
     • Deployment date: date on which the version was deployed
     • Replicate version: Click to add a new version based on the version's version information, guide information, and usable action list.
     • Delete version: Click to delete a version that has not been deployed.
5. To see the information about each version, click the version to see in from Version list.
6. Check the required information.
   
   • Version information: information and deployment of the version's firmware version
     • Firmware version: the firmware version to be installed on the device if the device registration is to be done with the version
     • [Deploy version] button: It is enabled when the version is not deployed. Click to deploy the version.
   • Guide information: Click the [Manage guide] button to view the image and content of the guide provided to the (end) users of the device to be registered with the version.
     • Factory reset guide: a guide about how to factory reset a device registered with the version
     • Wi-Fi reset guide: a guide about how to reset Wi-Fi settings in a device registered with the version
     • User confirmation guide: a guide added by the admin's decision to a device registered with the version
   • Usable action list: the list of usable actions and settings value of each action available for (end) users in a device registered with the version

Create product

You can create products. Register and manage devices using the created product under Device registration. The following describes how to create a product.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Project Manager menu from the device management console.
3. Click the [Create product] button.
4. Enter information in Product basic information.
   
   • Refer to View product information for the description of each item
5. Click the [Save product information] button.

Control product version

You can add, modify, delete, or deploy product of each version. A product version consists of a firmware version, guide, and usable actions. The following describes how to manage product versions.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Project Manager menu from the device management console.
3. Click the project where you want to manage its versions.
4. Proceed with the necessary management task.
   
   • Add version
   • Deploy version
   • Modify version
   • Delete version

Add version

The following describes how to add a version.

1. Click the [Add] button from Version list.
2. Please enter the firmware version in Version information.
3. Click the [Manage guide] button to register guide in Guide information.
4. When the Manage guide pop-up window appears, register image and content for each guide.
   • Refer to View product information for the description of each item
5. Click the [OK] button.
6. Click the [Select action] button under Usable action list to register actions to be used in the device.
7. When the Select action pop-up window appears, click to select actions to use, and click the [Confirm] button.
   • Select all: Click the selection box next to the action list.
8. Set data properties for the action selected.
9. Click the [Save] button.
10. Click the [OK] button.

Deploy version

Deploy a product with an added or modified version so it can be selected and applied in an actual device. The products with deployed versions can be seen in the version list under Product manager, or under Device registration.

The following describes how to deploy a version.

1. Click the version to deploy in Version list.
2. Click the [Deploy version] button from Version information.
3. Click the [OK] button.

Modify version

You can modify a version. Version information, guide information, and usable actions can all be modified if the version has not been deployed, while only guide information can be modified if a version's deployment has been completed. The following describes how you can modify a version.

1. Click the version to modify in Version list.
2. Modify any necessary information.
3. Click the [Save] button.
4. Click the [OK] button.

Delete version

You can delete a version. However, only versions that has not been deployed can be deleted. If a version's deployment has been completed, then it can't be deleted. The following describes how to delete a version.

1. Click of the version to delete in Version list.
2. When the Delete version pop-up window appears, click the [Confirm] button.

Modify product

You can modify product information. Product information consists of three main parts: basic information, version list, and version information. How to modify version list and version information was dealt previously in Modify version, so we'll introduce how to modify a product's basic information in this section. The following describes how to modify a product's basic information.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Project Manager menu from the device management console.
3. Click the product to modify.
4. Edit necessary information in Basic information.

Delete product

The following describes how to delete a product.

1. Access the device management console.
2. Click the Project Manager menu from the device management console.
3. Click under Delete product of the product to delete.
4. When the Delete product pop-up window appears, click the [Confirm] button.
