Available in Classic and VPC

After confirming Key Management Service requirements and thoroughly understanding the concepts, quickstart, and glossary, you are ready to use Key Management Service. Proceed with the subscription to Key Management Service.

Subscribing to the service

The following describes how to request a subscription for Key Management Service.

1. Access the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
2. Click Region and Platform at the top right of the console interface.
3. Select your Region and VPC platform and click [Apply].
4. Click at the top left of the console interface.
5. Click Services > Security > Key Management Service in order.
6. Click the [Request subscription] button.
7. When the pop-up window for agreeing to the terms of service appears, agree to the terms and conditions, and click the [Subscribe to product] button.
8. Click the [OK] button in the pop-up window.
   • When the application is completed, Key Management Service configures a key store, which is a logical area for managing user keys.

Activating region

When you have completed subscription to Key Management Service and select a specific Region for the first time and enter the console, you must go through a process to securely set up and enable the key store for that Region. This store serves as a dedicated space for storing Region-isolated keys. If not enabled, you cannot create or use isolated keys in that Region. Encryption keys stored in the Region key store are, by design, inaccessible and unretrievable by any external method. Due to this security structure, Region-isolated keys cannot be exported outside of the designated store. To use Region-isolated keys, you must first enable the key store for that Region. Each Region has its own separate configuration and management.

On the NAVER Cloud Platform console, check the current Region and go to > Services > Security > Key Management Service > Key. If this is your first time entering the Region, click the [Enable Region] button to set up the Region key store.

Unsubscribing from the service

The following describes how to cancel subscription for Key Management Service.

1. Access the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
2. Click Region and Platform at the top right of the console interface.
3. Select your Region and VPC platform and click [Apply].
4. Click at the top left of the console interface.
5. Click Services > Security > Key Management Service in order.
6. Click the Subscription menu.
7. Click the [Product in use] button, and then click Unsubscribe product.
8. Check the details in the pop-up window for unsubscribing service, and click the [OK] button.
   • When the request is completed, the key store, which is the logical area for managing user keys, are removed.
