Image Optimizer overview
Image Optimizer
Image Optimizer is a cloud-based, real-time image transformation service that lets you resize original images to match the resolution of various devices, such as mobile, tablet, and PC.
You can seamlessly integrate services for image processing, including storage, image transformation, CDN, and log analysis, and use them together. Only preconfigured transformation types are allowed, which helps reduce unexpected charges.
All features are available through a web-based console.
Getting started
Create a project
- Access the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
- In the top-right corner of the console, click Region & Platform.
- Select your region and platform, then click [Apply].
- In the top-left corner of the console, click Menu.
- Navigate to Services > Media > Image Optimizer.
- Click [Create project].
Step 1. Create a project
- Enter the project name.
- Each project can have its own policies and storage settings.
- Select the source image.
- When using Object Storage as the source:
- If no bucket exists in Object Storage, create one by referring to the Object Storage user guide.
- If the integrated bucket uses SSE encryption, thumbnails stored temporarily are also encrypted.
- Select the bucket from which to load the source image.
- If no bucket exists in Object Storage, create one by referring to the Object Storage user guide.
- When using an HTTP URL as the source:
- Enter the allowed download domain excluding "http://" and "https://."
- Enter the source domain used for the image.
- Example: To use the following image URL as the source, enter "xv-ncloud.pstatic.net":
- Enter the allowed download domain excluding "http://" and "https://."
- When using Object Storage as the source:
- Select the CDN to integrate.
- Create new: A CDN is created along with the channel. Once the CDN is created, you can obtain the channel playback URL.
- Use existing CDN: Select an existing CDN connected to Image Optimizer to integrate.
- Image Optimizer requires integration with Global Edge CDN. You must configure a Global Edge profile. If no profile exists, create one in the Global Edge console. For more information, see the Global Edge user guide.
- When creating a Global Edge CDN, custom domains are not supported if the service area is set to "Global."
Step 2. Configure log collection
- Click [Subscribe to Cloud Log Analytics].
- Proceed to the next step.
Step 3. Final confirmation
- After reviewing all settings, create the project.
Configure conversion rules
Only image transformation requests registered in the conversion rules are allowed, which helps prevent unintended or malicious high-volume requests. It may take some time for added or deleted rules to take effect.

- Add a conversion rule using easy input. To create a conversion rule query string, see the Query String creation guide.
- Save the conversion rule query string.
- Download the saved conversion rule in an Excel file.
- Delete the selected conversion rule.
Import conversion rules

- Click [Import conversion rule].
- You can import conversion rules from another project or from a downloaded Excel file.
Delete converted images

- Click [Delete converted image].
- Select the source image in the bucket or enter the full file path and name to delete images generated from that source.
When using an HTTP URL as the source, this feature is available only when using Global Edge CDN.
Preview transformed images

- Click [Preview] for the rule you want to preview.
- Select an image file in Object Storage, then click [Preview].
- Click [Copy image transformation link] to copy the image URL.
View image transformation history
After accessing the NAVER Cloud Platform Image Optimizer console, navigate to the Usage Statistics menu.

① Select All or a project to view.
② Select the time range.
③ View the transformation history based on the selected conditions.
④ You can download the graph as an image file.
Edit a project
You can modify the source image storage or download domain of an existing project, or change the CDN connected to the project.
When using Object Storage as the source:

- Change Object Storage bucket: You can change the Object Storage bucket used to download source images.
When using an HTTP URL as the source:

- Change HTTP URL: You can change the HTTP URL used to download source images.
Change CDN
- You can change the Global Edge CDN connected to Image Optimizer to a newly created CDN or an existing CDN.
- Projects integrated with the existing CDN+ can be migrated to Global Edge CDN.
In this case, the project can use both CDN+ and Global Edge CDN.
When creating a Global Edge CDN, custom domains are not supported if the service area is set to "Global."
