Before use

This service is available only when integrated with NAVER Cloud Platform services. Here are the services integrated:

• Object Storage
• Cloud Log Analytics
• Global Edge

Image Optimizer service introduction

Image Optimizer

Image Optimizer is a cloud-based, real-time image transformation service that lets you resize original images to match the resolution of various devices, such as mobile, tablet, and PC.
You can seamlessly integrate services for image processing, including storage, image transformation, CDN, and log analysis, and use them together. Only preconfigured transformation types are allowed, which helps reduce unexpected charges.
All features are available through a web-based console.

Getting started with Image Optimizer

Create project

1. Access the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
2. In the top-right corner, click Region & Platform.
3. Select your region and platform, then click [Apply].
4. In the top-left corner, click Menu.
5. Navigate to All Services > Media > Image Optimizer.
6. Click [Create project].

Step 1. Create project

1. Enter the project name.
   • Each project can have its own policies and storage settings.
2. Select the source image.
   • When using Object Storage as the origin:
     • If no bucket exists in Object Storage, see the Object Storage user guide to create one.
       • If the integrated bucket uses SSE encryption, thumbnails for temporary save are also encrypted.
     • Select the bucket from which to load the original image.
   • When using an HTTP URL as the origin:
     • Enter the allowed download domain without the "http://" or "https://" prefix.
       • Enter the original domain used for the original image.
       • Example: If you want to use the following image URL as the original source, enter "xv-ncloud.pstatic.net."
         • https://xv-ncloud.pstatic.net/images/service/media/img-opt-resize61.png
3. Select the CDN to integrate.
   • Create new: A CDN is created along with the channel. You can obtain the playback URL of the channel after the CDN creation is complete
   • Use custom CDN: Select to integrate a CDN connected to Image Optimizer

Step 2. Set log collection

1. Click [Subscribe to Cloud Log Analytics].
2. Proceed to the next step.

Step 3. Final check

1. After reviewing all settings, create the project.

Set conversion rule

Only image transformation requests registered in the conversion rules are allowed, which helps prevent unintended or malicious high-volume requests. It may take some time for added or deleted rules to apply.

1. Add a conversion rule using easy input. To create a conversion rule query string, see the Query string creation guide.
2. Save the conversion rule query string.
3. Download the saved conversion rule in an Excel file.
4. Delete the selected conversion rule.

Import conversion rule

1. Click [Import conversion rule].
   • You can import conversion rules from another project or from a downloaded Excel file.

Delete converted image

1. Click [Delete converted image].
2. Select the original image in the bucket or enter the full file path and name to delete images generated from that original source.

Preview converted image

1. Click [Preview] for the rule you want to preview.
2. Select an image file in Object Storage, then click [Preview].
3. Click [Copy image transformation link] to copy the image URL.

View image conversion history

After accessing the NAVER Cloud Platform Image Optimizer console, navigate to the Usage statistics menu.

1. Select all or a project to view.
2. Select the viewing period.
3. View the transformation history based on the selected conditions.
4. You can download the graph as an image file.

Edit project

You can edit the original image storage or download domain of a project you've created, or change the CDN connected to the project.

When handling Object Storage as original source

• Object Storage bucket change: You can change the Object Storage bucket for downloading the original images.

When handling HTTP URL as original source

• HTTP URL change: You can change the HTTP URL for downloading the original images.

Change CDN

• You can change the Global Edge CDN connected to Image Optimizer to a newly created CDN or an existing CDN.

Delete project

Deleting a project permanently removes all images transformed by the project and images cached on the CDN.

1. Select the project to delete.
2. Click [Delete project].
3. Review the notes in the [Delete project] popup, and then click [Delete].

Unsubscribe from the service

Image Optimizer does not have a separate Unsubscribe from the service process. Your subscription is cancelled once you delete all created projects. For instructions on how to delete a project, see Delete project.
