You might run into the following problems when using Search Engine Service. Find out causes and possible solutions.
TSVB visualizations not visible in Kibana
TSVB visualizations are not visible in Kibana.
Cause
Because of the CVE‑2020‑7015 vulnerability in the Kibana OSS 7.7.0 version provided by Search Engine Service, use of TSVB visualizations is restricted.
Solution
If you must use TSVB visualizations, edit the kibana.yml file and restart Kibana:
- Connect to the manager node as the sshuser account.
- Open the kibana.yml file by using the commands below:
sudo vi /etc/kibana/kibana.yml - Delete the
metrics.enabled: falseon the last line of the file. - Restart Kibana by using
sudo systemctl restartcommands.
If you modify kibana.yml, it may be difficult to mitigate CVE‑2020‑7015. For details about E‑2020‑7015, see CVE-2020-7015.
Stack Monitoring not supported
You installed Elasticsearch OSS 7.7.0, but the Stack Monitoring feature is not visible.
Cause
In Elasticsearch OSS 7.7.0, Stack Monitoring is part of X‑Pack, a paid add‑on, and is not provided in the open‑source build. However, OpenSearch provides equivalent functionality even in the open‑source version.
Solution
As explained in Cause, this feature is not available.
X‑Pack features not supported in Elasticsearch
Elasticsearch provided by Search Engine Service does not include X‑Pack modules.
Cause
Elasticsearch provided by Search Engine Service is the open‑source (OSS) build and does not include X‑Pack modules (security, monitoring, machine learning, and other advanced features).
In addition, Elasticsearch‑OSS stopped receiving updates at 7.10 and transitioned to OpenSearch, an open‑source project with equivalent functionality.
Solution
As explained in Cause, Elasticsearch‑OSS is no longer provided; use OpenSearch.
