To create a channel for VOD streaming, follow these steps:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Media > VOD Station menus in order.
- Click the Channel menu and click the [Create channel] button.
- Enter a channel name, and set each item.
- If there is no created Object Storage bucket, create an Object Storage bucket.
- Bucket names cannot contain hls and dashes.
- VOD Station supports automatic creation function in connection with Global Edge. For more information on the Global Edge settings, see Global Edge user guide.
- For creating Global Edge, you must select a Global Edge profile. If you don't have a Global Edge profile, create one on Global Edge.
- Select the main country for the service.
- For more information on encryption settings for content protection, see Content protection settings.
- If there is no created Object Storage bucket, create an Object Storage bucket.
- When you finish setting up, click the [Create channel] button.
- Check the settings in the confirmation popup window, and click the [Create channel] button.
It may take some time to create a channel. Once the channel creation is complete and it starts running, will be displayed on the left of the name in the channel list. If the status of Creating Channel or CDN continues, use the customer inquiry feature from NAVER Cloud Platform portal.
Content protection settings
You can set media encryption and DRM features from the Content protection settings area in the Create channel page. For encryption type and supported devices by media encryption and DRM technology, see the following table.
For more information on other platforms and versions, see Link.
Encryption type | Protocol | DRM type | Encryption algorithm | Supported devices |
---|---|---|---|---|
HLS AES-128 | HLS | - | AES-128 | MS Edge, Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera HLS HTML5 |
DRM | HLS | FairPlay | SAMPLE-AES | Mac/iOS Safari browser, iOS/iPadOS/tvOS app, HLS HTML5 |
DRM | DASH | PlayReady, Widevine | CENC (Common Encryption) | MS Edge, Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera DASH HTML5 |
VOD Station provides an interface that can be integrated with NAVER Cloud Platform's One Click Multi DRM service and external DRM solutions. If you want to use the DRM features, you need an advance contract with an external DRM provider.
Media Encryption
Media encryption is applied to the HLS protocol and performs encryption on each HLS TS file automatically using the AES-128 method.
The URL to obtain the key is displayed on the manifest. You can use the security token of the CDN to improve your security level.
This feature is an HLS standard feature and is automatically decrypted in players that support HLS.
However, Media Encryption cannot be configured together with FairPlay.
Multi DRM
VOD Station offers Multi DRM, collaborating with INKA Entworks' PallyCon, a content security service validated domestically and internationally, ensuring high performance and stability. Based on the support of standard DRMs, Widevine, FairPlay, and PlayReady, you can apply robust security to videos of your choice without facing the obstacle of incompatible operating systems or platforms.
External DRM can be integrated with Pallycon DRM CPIX API v1, but integration with other providers may not work properly. Only single-key packaging is supported.
One Click Multi DRM
