Available in Classic and VPC
VOD Station is a VOD-exclusive service that provides encoding capabilities to convert stored videos for viewing on a variety of devices, and streaming capabilities to packetize video files to use the network efficiently. When used with Media Connect Center (MCC), VOD Station provides reliable service with more effective media file management and distribution.
Features of VOD Station
VOD Station service has the following features.
- Encode and stream with one service: instead of having to choose between multiple VOD services, you can encode and stream with only VOD Station.
- Reasonable pricing based on video length and resolution: VOD Station charges based on the length of the video and the converted resolution after coding, so you can use the service at a reasonable cost.
- High-quality and reliable streaming: VOD Station packetizes video rather than using progressive download, so you can deliver streams with stable quality.
- Convenient CDN creation: with the Content Delivery Network (CDN) selection option, you can conveniently create CDN optimized for VOD streaming services.
- Flexible integration between services: provides flexible integration for VOD services including encoding, security, and integration with video players.
Various features provided by VOD Station
The following describes various features of VOD Station.
- Encoding: you can easily reformat files or convert video to different sizes for multi-screen in the cloud, without having to build or operate your own expensive media encoding infrastructure.
- On-the-fly packetizing: when a user requests VOD streaming, MP4 files in Object Storage are packetized based on the specified segment duration unit. You can use the network effectively, with risks of service load blocked.
- Template encoding settings: VOD Station collects frequently used options and provide them as a list of default encoding settings, so you can select them from a list without having to set complex encoding options.
- DRM: you can apply DRM to VOD streaming packets to enhance content security. It's faster, easier, and more secure than the traditional method that applies DRM to the files and managing and servicing them separately. You can eliminate the risk of illegal downloads from paid content services.
- Thumbnail extraction: you can extract high-quality thumbnail images from the original video file while encoding video. The extracted thumbnails can be stored in a different file storage path to be separated from the encoded output video files, and can be easily integrated with CDN to be utilized for services.
- Generating optimal CDNs (optional): configuring CDNs required to secure the quality of media services is quite complex, but VOD Station automatically configures and provides the optimal CDN as soon as you finish setting up your channel.
