    Policy describes how to create, edit, and delete the policies that will be applied to the page composition and backup task of the Policy menu.

    Policy page

    The Policy page is laid out as follows:

    • Policy name: the name you entered when creating the policy
    • Retention period: the period for retaining the backup data
    • Zone: zone where the policy was created
    • Connecting storage: the name of the storage in the zone where the policy was created
    • Status: the current status of the policy
      • Creation completed: the status where the policy creation is completed
      • Creating: the status where the policy is being created according to the setup information
      • Editing: the status where the policy setup is being edited
      • Deleting: the status where the policy is being deleted

    Create policy

    To backup the data, create a policy at the storage where you will store the backup data.
    To create tasks, follow these steps:

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and the Platform menu on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Storage > Backup, in order.
    3. Click Backup > Policy in order.
    4. Click the [Create policy] button.
    5. When the policy creation page comes up, set up the policy information and click the [Next] button.
      • Policy name: enter the original name that works as the standard for the policy management

        • The name should consist of lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens (-); must start with an English letter. The total length must be from 3-30 characters.
      • Retention period: the period for storing the backup data

        • The default retention period is 7 days. Based on the backup cycle, you can set the period from at least 7 days to at most 365 days. In addition, you must set the retention period at least 2 times longer than the backup cycle.
        Note

        You can set up the backup cycle during the create schedule step, the retention period applicable by backup cycle is as follows:

        • Daily: minimum of 7 days to maximum of 365 days
        • Weekly: minimum of 14 days to maximum of 365 days
        • Monthly: minimum of 60 days to maximum of 365 days
      • Zone: select the zone where the policy will be created

      • Connecting storage: the name of the storage in the selected zone automatically appears, and the policy is created in the storage

    6. After confirming the settings, click the [Create policy] button.
      • The policy status displays creating on the list, and after the creation, the status changes to creation completed.
    Note

    Single policy can be only applied to single task. Create policies for as many as tasks you want to perform.

    Edit policy

    You can edit the retention period of the policy among the setup information of the policy.
    To edit policies, follow these steps:

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and the Platform menu on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Storage > Backup, in order.
    3. Click Backup > Policy in order.
    4. After clicking the task you want to edit from the list of policies, click the [Edit] button.
    5. Edit the retention period, and then click the [Edit] button.
      • The policy status displays editing, and after the editing is complete, it changes to creation completed.

    Delete policy

    To delete policies, follow these steps:

    Note

    You cannot delete the policy currently in use. See the following items and delete the schedule and the remote backup that use the policy first:

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and the Platform menu on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Storage > Backup, in order.
    3. Click Backup > Policy in order.
    4. Click to select the policy to delete from the policy list, and click the [Delete] button.
    5. After viewing the popup window of policy deletion, click the check box.
    6. Click the [Delete] button.
      • The policy status displays deleting, and after the deletion it disappears from the list of policies.
