Certificate Manager glossary

There are a few terms you need to know to use Certificate Manager. The terms and their descriptions are as follows.

Private Key

A key value that is not open and is used secretly among asymmetric key pairs (public key, private key), which is used to decrypt a certificate encrypted with the public key.

Public Key

A key value that is provided by a designated Certificate Authority among asymmetric key pairs (public key, private key), which is used to encrypt a certificate.

Load Balancer (LB)

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that distributes network traffic to multiple servers in consideration of server performance and load

Root CA

The certificate authority at the top of the CA hierarchy

Secure Socket Layer (SSL)

Encryption technique for the web used when providing security-related transactions like credit card numbers in e-commerce

Asymmetric Key-based Encryption

Cryptography that uses different keys for encryption and decryption upon data en/decryption (public key encryption method). Create ciphertext/plaintext by calculating data and keys mathematically. The keys used are composed of a pair of key values that can be made public and key values that must remain secure.

Certificate Authority (CA)

A reliable online organization that manages security appropriateness, and issues and manages public keys for message encryption(Source: Telecommunications Technology Association)

Certificate Manager (CM)

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that provides easy registration and management of SSL certificates

Certificate

Data of an entity that is impossible to tamper with due to the usage of the certificate authority's private key or secret key

Content Delivery Network (CDN)

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that quickly and safely delivers various content to internet users
