When entering questions using regular expression syntax or creating pattern entities, defining frequently used patterns as regular expression variables can be very useful. After creating, modifying, or deleting a regular expression variable, you must build or complete the application of changed settings for the changes to be reflected in the chatbot service. For more information on regular expression syntax rules, see How to enter regular expressions.
- Types of regular expression variables
- Domain variable: Variables available only within a specific domain.
- System variable: Built-in variables registered for common use across all Korean domains.
Create domain variables
To register domain variables:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > AI Services > CLOVA Chatbot > Domain. - Click [Run builder] of the domain you want to run the Chatbot Builder.
- In the Chatbot Builder, click Regular Expression Variables > [Domain Entity] tab.
- Click [Create Variable].
- Enter the name of domain variable and click [Check Duplicates].
- Define the domain variable using a regular expression in the variable definition field, and click [Add].
- Only dictionary entities and system variables can be entered as domain variables.
- Click [Save].

Use system variables
System variables are Korean verb conjugation variables registered by default in the system. They can be used when creating pattern entities or questions.
Note
System entities referenced in tasks or regular expressions cannot be disabled.
