You can connect Data Query from an external business intelligence (BI) tool.
Data Query is compatible with most BI tools that support Trino connectivity.
In addition to the BI tools listed below, many other BI tools can be connected and used in a similar way.

Username and password authentication is supported for connecting to Data Query from external BI tools.
Note
- Username and password: Access Key and Secret Key of the user's sub account
Caution
- Entering a username and password in external tools can be a security risk, so you cannot use the authentication key of the customer account (main account).
- Follow the instructions below to create an authentication key (Access Key) for your sub account.
Create Sub Account and authentication key for Data Query BI
To create a Data Query BI-specific sub account and authentication key for username and password authentication in external BI tools:

1. Create Sub Account
- From NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Management & Governance > Sub Account. - In the Sub Account menu, click [Create Sub Account].
- Enter the Sub Account information.
- Login ID: Enter the ID to use for login.
- Username: Enter the name of the user who will use the sub account.
- Email: Enter the user's email address.
- Access permissions
- Console access: Disabled
- Console access is now allowed for Data Query BI-dedicated accounts.
- API Gateway access: Allowed
- Set to Allowed to generate Access Keys for use in BI.
- Select accessible sources (all or specified) based on the user's BI environment.
- Console access: Disabled
- Two-factor authentication options: Required
- For all other options, use the default settings.
- Enter the information above and click [Create].
2. Add Sub Account policy
- In the Sub Accounts menu, click the logic ID created in the 1. Create Sub Account section.
- In the Sub Account details menu for the account, select the Policy tab at the bottom.
- Click [Add individual permission] and select the policy name
NCP_VPC_DATA_QUERY_BI_TOOL_USER, and click [Add] to grant Data Query-related service access permissions.
Caution
- For security reasons, use the created Sub Account exclusively for the Data Query BI tool. Do not add any permissions other than those related to Data Query.
3. Create Sub Account Access Key
- In the Sub Accounts menu, click the logic ID created in the 1. Create Sub Account section.
- In the Sub Account details menu for the account, select the Access Key tab at the bottom.
- Click [Create] to create an Access Key and Secret Key.
