Available in VPC
In Proxy Server, you can create and manage proxy servers that control traffic connecting user PCs to servers and DBs, and record user activity history.
Created proxy servers can only be viewed and controlled within Proxy Server. To prevent user misoperations and confusion, they are not displayed under Menu > All Services > Compute > Server, so keep this in mind when using the service.

Create a proxy server
A proxy server is created when subscribing to the DB & Server Access Control service. To create a proxy server:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Proxy Server.
- Click [Subscribe].
- If you are not subscribed to Cloud Log Analyzer, the required integration service, a popup requesting subscription to Cloud Log Analyzer will display.
- When Proxy server settings appears, set the proxy server configuration information, and then click [Next].
- Access key: This is a unique value, so duplicate use of an access key already in use by another tenant is not possible.
- VPC: If you do not have a VPC created, you need to create one first by clicking [Create VPC].
- Subnet: If you do not have a subnet created, you need to create one first by clicking [Create subnet].
- Server spec.: Select specifications considering the recommended maximum quantity of access control targets. Can be changed during proxy server operation.
- When Set dashboard analytics criteria appears, set the analytics criteria to be applied to the dashboard, and then click [Next].
- Define business hour criteria: The Dashboard provides analytics on DB queries and server commands executed outside of defined business hours.
- Define bulk query criteria: The Dashboard provides query result analytics for valuesexceeding the defined bulk query threshold. Up to 1,000,000,000 can be entered.
- When the final confirmation appears, check the set values, and then click [Create].
- The status of the created proxy server will be displayed as Creating.
The number of access control targets displayed under Server spec. is the recommended maximum number that can be set on a server of those specifications. Exceeding the recommended maximum quantity may result in slow operating speeds or server malfunctions, while using high-spec servers relative to actual usage may lead to excessive charges; therefore, select appropriate server specifications for your usage environment.
Check a proxy server
To check the information of a created proxy server:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Proxy Server.
- Check the required information.
Change a proxy server
You can change the specifications of a proxy server. If the number of access control targets changes, you can respond flexibly by modifying the proxy server specifications.
When changing a proxy server, be aware of the following things:
- Since the server restarts when the proxy server specifications are changed, any ongoing sessions will be forcibly terminated.
- Separate charges apply for changed servers, and pricing information can be checked on the NAVER Cloud Platform Server service portal.
To change the specifications of a proxy server:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Proxy Server.
- Select the proxy server.
- Click [Change spec.].
- When the Change spec popup appears, select the specifications you want to change and click [Yes].
- Review the cautions, select the check box, and then click [Yes].
- The status of the proxy server will be displayed as Creating.
Restart a proxy server
To restart a proxy server:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Proxy Server.
- Select the proxy server.
- Click [Restart].
- When the Restart popup appears, review the restart cautions, select the check box, and then click [Yes].
- The status of the proxy server will be displayed as Restarting.
Delete a proxy server
Proxy servers can only be returned upon unsubscription from the DB & Server Access Control service. For how to unsubscribe, see Manage subscriptions.
Download client
The DB & Server Access Control service controls access by requiring users to route through a proxy server instead of connecting directly to the server or DB. In this case, the program that connects the user's PC and the proxy server acts as the client, and it is used by logging in with a NAVER Cloud Platform sub-account. When a user logs into the client, their traffic passes through the proxy server, and the proxy server verifies the user's access permissions before allowing access to the server or DB. If you do not use the client, access will be blocked because you cannot pass through the proxy server, so you must install the client to connect to the server or DB. The client supports Windows and MacOS, and downloads and installs the file compatible with the user's PC operating system. To download the client:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console's VPC environment, navigate to Menu > All Services > Security > DB & Server Access Control > Proxy Server.
- Click [Download client].
- When the Download client popup appears, click [Download] to download the right installation file for the operating system that the person connecting (user) is currently using.
- Once the file has finished downloading, click [OK].
For more details on how to use the client, see Using the DB & Server Access Control Client.
