Live Station glossary

Available in Classic and VPC

You must become familiar with a few terms to use Live Station. The glossary and its description are as follows.

HTTP live streaming (HLS)

A media transmission protocol based on HTTP (Hyper Transfer Protocol) developed by Apple, Inc.(Source: Telecommunications Technology Association)

Live Curtain

Feature, which allows you to temporarily replace the playback screen of a live broadcasting channel with administrator rights

Live Short Clip

Feature, which allows you to create short clips in real time using DVR recordings of live broadcasting

Low latency HTTP live streaming (LL-HLS)

Low latency HTTP-based media transfer protocol

VOD Recording

A feature that records VODs through NAVER Cloud Platform's Live Station

VOD2LIVE

Feature, which allows you to utilize recording files as a streaming source for live broadcasts

Global content delivery network (Global CDN)

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that can deliver content quickly and stably anywhere around the world

Re-stream

A feature that makes it easy to send live media images simultaneously to other platforms such as various social media broadcast platforms, YouTube, and AfreecaTV. The simultaneous transmission and management of the transmission status can be done through NAVER Cloud Platform's Live Station.

Live Station

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that can implement the essential features of live streams in a cost-effective way through powerful encoding performance

Bucket

Data storage space. The top directory grouping related objects.

Streaming

Technology that provides multimedia data to users over networks (Internet) in real time. The streaming service of NAVER Cloud Platform's CDN supports HTTP Live Streaming, HTTP Pseudo Streaming, and MPEG-DASH protocol.

Stream

Real-time video which is fed into (input) Live Station or is generated (output) by Live Station

Object Storage

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that can save and search all types of data on the internet

Access control group (ACG)

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that manages network access to the server using filters based on IP address and port number

Channel

A unit that must be created in order to use the Live Station of NAVER Cloud Platform to broadcast

Content delivery network (CDN)

A NAVER Cloud Platform service that quickly and safely delivers various content to internet users
