Available in VPC

With VPC Peering, you communicate with another VPC over a private network using private IP addresses without traversing the internet. You can extend a dedicated network and enable secure communication.

  • VPC Peering works only within the same Region.
  • Because VPC Peering supports one-way communication only, create two VPC Peering connections by reversing the requesting and accepting VPCs when you need bidirectional communication such as TCP.
  • VPC Peering does not support transitive relationships, and you cannot route traffic to other VPCs or external networks through a peered VPC.

VPC Peering interface

The basic description for using VPC Peering is as follows:

Component Description
① Menu name Currently confirmed menu name, the number of operating VPC Peering.
② Basic features Create VPC Peering, refresh VPC page.
③ Post-creation features Delete operating VPC Peering.
④ Search bar Enter search keywords and click i-vpc_find to search for the item.
⑤ VPC Peering list Check peering list of operating VPC and its information.

View VPC Peering list

You can view details for each entry in the list of active VPC Peering connections. To check:

You can see the list only when there are 1 or more VPC Peering in operation. If you don't have any VPC Peering that have been created and are in operation, then the list is not displayed on the page.

  1. In the VPC environment of the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Networking > VPC.
  2. Click the VPC Peering menu.
  3. Check the detailed information by clicking VPC Peering or the summarized information when the list of created VPC Peering appears.

    • VPC Peering name: Name of the VPC Peering.
    • VPC Peering ID: ID of the VPC Peering.
    • Request VPC: Name of the VPC that requests the VPC Peering.
    • Accept VPC: Name of the VPC that accepts the VPC Peering.
    • Status: Status of the VPC Peering.
      • Getting ready: Getting ready to prepare to create the VPC Peering with the information you entered.
      • Creating: Creating VPC Peering in progress with the information entered by the user.
      • Running: VPC Peering creation complete and in a usable situation with the information entered by the user.
      • Shutting down: Deletion status of the created VPC Peering with the information entered by the user.
    • Request VPC IP address range: IP range of the VPC that requests the VPC Peering.
    • Accept VPC IP address range: IP range of the VPC that accepts the VPC Peering.
    • Request VPC owner: Owner account of the VPC that requests the VPC Peering.
    • Accept VPC owner: Owner account of the VPC that accepts the VPC Peering.
    • Created on: Date when the VPC peering was created.
    • Request response: Displayed when you request VPC Peering to a different account.
      Before the accepter approves or rejects the request, click [Delete request] to cancel it.
      After the accepter approves the request, click [Delete VPC Peering] to remove the VPC Peering.
    • Memo: Memo related to VPC Peering; To edit it, click [Edit].

Create VPC Peering

To create a VPC Peering:

  1. In the VPC environment of the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Networking > VPC.
  2. Click the VPC Peering menu.
  3. Click [Create VPC Peering].

  4. When the Create VP Peering popup appears, enter the information for the VPC Peering to create.
    • VPC Peering name: Enter a name for the VPC Peering using letters, numbers, and hyphens (-), with a length of 3 to 30 characters.
      • Including the requesting and accepting VPC names helps identify the entry.
    • Request VPC: Select the VPC that requests the VPC Peering (starting point of communication).
    • Accept VPC: Select the VPC that accepts the VPC Peering (destination of communication).
      • If you select My Account , choose another VPC in your account.
      • If you select Another Account, enter the accepter’s account, VPC ID, and VPC name.
  5. Click [Create].
  6. When the Request VPC Peering popup appears, review the request details and click [OK].
  7. Check the status of the VPC Peering that was created from the VPC Peering list in the VPC Peering page.
    • Getting ready: Getting ready to prepare to create the VPC Peering with the information you entered.
    • Creating: Creating VPC Peering in progress with the information entered by the user.
    • Running: VPC Peering creation complete and in a usable situation with the information entered by the user.
  8. Go to the Route table menu, and set the network path for communication via the VPC Peering. For more information, see Route Table setting guide.

Accept VPC Peering

When you request communication with a VPC in another account, the connection completes only after the accepter approves the VPC Peering in their account. To accept or deny the VPC Peering from other consoles:

  1. In the VPC environment of the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Networking > VPC.
  2. Click the VPC Peering menu.
  3. In the VPC Peering list, click the entry that you want to accept.
  4. When the [Details] tab appears, click Deny or Accept in the Request response section.

    • When selecting Deny, the VPC Peering is denied.
    • When selecting Accept, the VPC Peering is complete.

Delete VPC Peering

You can delete a created and operating VPC Peering. The deletion method differs depending on whether you connect VPCs within your account or connect to a VPC in another account.

Note

If you set VPC Peering as a target in a route table, delete the route table rule first before you delete the VPC Peering.

To delete VPC Peering between VPCs in your account:

  1. In the VPC environment of the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Networking > VPC.
  2. Click the VPC Peering menu.
  3. Click the VPC Gateway to delete, and then click [Delete VPC Peering].
  4. When the Delete TVPC Peering popup appears, click [Delete].
  5. Check the status of the VPC Peering from the VPC Gateway list in the VPC Gateway page.
    • Shutting down: The system is deleting the VPC Peering.

To delete VPC Peering connected to a VPC in another account:

  1. In the VPC environment of the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Networking > VPC.
  2. Click the VPC Peering menu.
  3. In the VPC Peering list, click the entry that you want to delete.
  4. When the [Details] tab appears, click [Release VPC Peering] in the Request response section.

  5. When the Release TVPC Peering popup appears, click [Release].
  6. Check the status of the VPC Peering in the VPC Peering list.
    • Shutting down: The system is deleting the VPC Peering.
