The VL guide describes how to use the Visual Localization (VL) scan mode on the ARC eye Scan app.

Gallery

Gallery describes how to view the videos taken on the ARC eye Scan app and upload the videos on the NAVER Cloud Platform.

View video

To view the list of videos taken on the app:

1. Touch and open the ARC eye Scan app.
2. Select a Region you want to use, and then click [Next].
3. Select the [Visual Localization] scan mode, then click [Start].
4. Tap the [Gallery] menu at the bottom of the page.
5. The list of videos taken by date appears.
   • Total on the top left of the screen means the total number of videos currently saved on the app.
   • Click the filter button on the top right of the screen to change the date sorting order.
6. Touch the video whose details you want to view.
7. View the detailed information on the video.
   • ▶ button: Tap to playback the video.
     • Can change the playback speed by clicking the … button
   • Name: The name of the automatically created videos
     • [Edit name] button: Click to edit the name. The video uploaded is not integrated with the video name on the console
   • Creation date: The date when the video is taken
   • Size: Size of the video file
   • Time: Length of the video

Upload video

To upload the video taken on the app to the NAVER Cloud Platform console:

1. Touch and open the ARC eye Scan app.
2. Select a Region you want to use, and then click [Next].
3. Select the [Visual Localization] scan mode, then click [Start].
4. Tap the [Gallery] menu at the bottom of the page.
5. Tap [Select].
6. Touch and select the videos you want to upload.
   • Up to 5 videos available at once
7. Tap [N uploads] at the bottom of the page.
8. When the Confirmation pop-up window appears, click [OK].
9. Tap and select the project where you want to upload the selected video and tap [Upload].
10. Once the upload history screen appears, view the upload progress.

View upload history

You can view the list of uploaded videos and whether the upload is completed. To view the information:

1. Touch and open the ARC eye Scan app.
2. Select a Region you want to use, and then click [Next].
3. Select the [Visual Localization] scan mode, then click [Start].
4. Tap the [Gallery] menu at the bottom of the page.
5. Tap [Upload history] on the top right of the page.
6. Select the project where you want to view the upload history in the select box on the right of the screen.
7. Once the list of videos uploaded in the selected project appears, view the information you need.
   • Number of uploads: The total number of videos uploaded in the selected project
   • Date: The date when you upload a video in the selected project
   • Video information: Thumbnails, name of the video uploaded in the selected project, detailed upload date, and whether the upload is completed

     Note

     You can tap Upload history in View more to view the upload history.

Delete video

To delete a video taken in the app:

1. Touch and open the ARC eye Scan app.
2. Select a Region you want to use, and then click [Next].
3. Select the [Visual Localization] scan mode, then click [Start].
4. Tap the [Gallery] menu at the bottom of the page.
5. Tap [Select].
6. Touch and select the video you want to delete.
7. Tap [Delete] at the bottom of the page.
8. When the Delete data pop-up window appears, tap [OK].

Camera

Camera describes how to record videos to upload spatial image data of VL Task from ARC eye Scan app.

Shooting requirements

Record videos

To record a video of the object on the ARC eye Scan app:

1. Touch and open the ARC eye Scan app.
2. Select a Region you want to use, and then click [Next].
3. Select the [Visual Localization] scan mode, then click [Start].
4. Tap the [Camera] menu at the bottom of the page.
5. Before taking a video, select a project and shooting location.
   • Select project: Select the project to conduct VL.
   • Select higher > lower location: Select locations until the lowest location appears on the page.
   • Select final location: Select the lowest location to upload the file to.
     • [Previous] button: Select the higher location to move to.
6. Click [Start shooting] at the bottom of the page.
   • The camera screen appears, and you can run the camera module by moving the shooting device.
   • Wait a moment until the camera is ready to shoot.
7. Point the camera at the space you want to shoot, then tap ● (Start) in the lower-right corner of the page to start recording.
   • Once recording begins, the space recognition process will start. Slowly move the device from side to side to help the camera recognize the space.
   • Be careful not to move too fast so that you can accurately scan the space.
   • Areas that have been scanned are displayed in light blue and purple. The color of the displayed area varies depending on the device’s orientation, and the more areas that appear light blue, the more data has been captured from various directions. Continue scanning so that as many areas as possible are displayed in light blue.
   • The top of the screen shows the remaining time available for shooting (MM:SS).
   • The bottom of the screen shows the location of the space you are currently scanning via a mini-map.
8. When recording is completed, tap ■ (Stop).
   • Once the scan is complete, it returns to the starting point and stops.
   • The videos you record are automatically saved in the gallery.

How to check positioning performance

If positioning is not working properly in a specific area, you can check the VL response rate in real time using the ARC eye Scan app to verify positioning performance on-site.

1. Launch the ARC eye Scan app, then tap the camera button at the bottom to go to the scan page. Long-tap the red record button in the lower-right corner.
   A short tap switches to normal scan mode, while a long tap switches to VL positioning test mode.

2. Once you switch to VL positioning test mode, the record button changes to the VL status icon.

3. As you move, the camera path is augmented, and the VL icon color changes. The color indicates the positioning status.
   • Red indicates failure, yellow indicates normal (half success, half failure), and green indicates success.
   • Areas where red appears frequently are considered to have undergone significant changes, so a rescan is required.

4. Tapping the VL icon button ends the positioning test. The path showing the positioning results within the space is retained.
