    Install and manage agent describes how to install, reinstall, delete the agent and view the record of agent installation.

    Install agent

    The agent is installed together when the resource is created, however you can install agent additionally.

    Note

    The function of the agent installation can be used for the following cases:

    • The case where you want to add a new type of agent
    • The case where the agent reinstallation is needed due to the agent installation failure

    To install the agent, follow these steps:

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and the Platform menu on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.

    2. Click Services > Storage > Backup, in order.

    3. Click Backup > Resource in order.

    4. From the resource list, click and select the resource you want to install the agent.

    5. Click [Manage agent] > Add agent, in order.

      • Also, you can click the [Add] button at the detailed resource information to install the agent.
    6. When the popup window of adding agent comes up, set up the information of the agent you want to install.

      • Agent type: select the type of the backup agent you want to install
        • You can select several agent types simultaneously.
        • You cannot select the type of agent you have previously installed. To reinstall the agent, see reinstall agent.
        • Data: perform a backup for the data area except for the OS area
          • The installation of the Data agent is mandatory for Windows servers.
        • DB: perform a backup for the DB area installed at the server
          • When you select DB, select the DB agent you want to install.
          • You cannot install MSSQL agent when you want to install the agent into the resource server with Linux OS.
      • ID: enter the server ID to install the agent
        • Enter less than 256 characters by using English letters, numbers, and hyphens (-).

        • Install the agent by using the root account on Linux server and the Administrator account on Windows server. When you cannot use root/Administrator accounts, see set up server ID.

        • When you install the agent on MSSQL server, enter the account ID with the sysadmin authority that belongs to the administrator group. Use the Windows authentication mode to access MSSQL servers.

          Note

          Click Security > Logins > Properties > Server Roles on SQL Server Management Studio in order to view whether to hold the sysadmin authority. When the sysadmin check box unchecked, click the check box and the [OK] button.

        • When you install the agent into MySQL server, enter the account ID with the OS admin authority.

        • When you install the agent on PostgreSQL server, enter the postgres account ID with the admin authority.

      • Password: enter the server password to install the agent
        • Enter the password for the ID you entered.
      Note

      The server ID and password are only used for the agent installation, and they are not saved for other purposes.

    7. Click the [Yes] button.

      • The agent will be in the status of installing, and after the installation the status will change into creation completed.
      • When the installation is failed, click the [View] button to view the cause for the installation failure. After troubleshooting the problem, rerun the installation of the agent.

    Reinstall agent

    Reinstall agent is the function to delete the completely installed agent and reinstall it.

    Note
    • The [Manage agent] > Reinstall agent and the [Reinstall] button are enabled only when the agent installation is completed. The reinstallation is only possible for the agent in the status of creation completed.
    • When you reinstall the agent, the previously installed agent is automatically deleted. You do not have to delete the agent separately. When you delete the installed agent by yourself, you cannot use the reinstall agent function but have to install the agent through install agent.

    To reinstall the agent, follow these steps:

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and the Platform menu on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Storage > Backup, in order.
    3. Click Backup > Resource in order.
    4. From the list of resources, click the resource where you want to reinstall the agent.
    5. Click [Manage agent] > Reinstall agent in order.
      • You can reinstall the agent by clicking the [Reinstall] button at the detailed resource information.
    6. When the popup window of reinstalling agent comes up, set up the information of the agent you want to reinstall.
    7. Click the [Yes] button.
      • After the previously installed agent is deleted, the agent is reinstalled. The status of the agent will change into deleting, installing, and creation completed in order.
      • When the reinstallation is failed, click the [View] button to view the cause for the installation failure. After troubleshooting the problem, see install agent and install the agent.

    View the record of agent installation

    You can check the starting date of agent installation and deletion, agent type, status, and progress rate.
    To check the record of agent installation, follow these steps:

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and the Platform menu on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Storage > Backup, in order.
    3. Click Backup > Resource in order.
    4. From the resource list, select the resource you want to view its record of agent installation.
    5. Click [Manage agent] > Record of agent installation in order.
      • The popup window of agent installation record comes up, and you can view the record.

    Delete agent

    To delete an agent, follow these steps:

    Caution

    When you delete the agent, all the data and records related to the agent will be removed together. As deleted data cannot be recovered, take careful considerations and delete them.

    Note

    You can delete the agent only when the status of the resource and the server the agent has been installed into is as follows:

    • Server: in normal operation or being returned
    • Resource: the status of creation completed
    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and the Platform menu on the NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click Services > Storage > Backup, in order.
    3. Click Backup > Resource in order.
    4. From the resource list, click the resource you want to delete the agent.
    5. Click [Manage agent] > Delete agent in order.
      • You can delete the agent by clicking the agent [Delete] button from the detailed resource information.
    6. When the popup window of deleting agent comes up, select the agent you want to delete and click the [Delete] button.
    7. After checking the popup window and checking the check box, click the [Delete] button.
      • The status displays deleting, and after the deletion, it disappears from the agent list in the resource.
