This page explains how to create and manage target groups and rule templates in Template.
You can use target groups and rule templates to group monitoring targets and items and manage them as groups.
To access the Template menu, connect to the NAVER Cloud Platform portal, and then click [Console] > Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) > Configuration > Template, in that order.
Template page
The Template page is laid out as follows.

Create target group
The following describes how to create a target group.
From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
Click the Configuration > Template menus, in that order.
Click the [Create target group] button.
Enter information in the group creation pop-up window.
- Select a service to create the target group for.
- Enter the name and description for the group.
- Click and select monitoring targets to include in the group from Available monitoring targets, and then click .
- You can view monitoring targets by searching.
- To remove a selected monitoring target, click and select the monitoring target from Selected monitoring target, and then click .
Click the [Create] button.
Modify target group
If the monitoring targets in a target group are modified, then those changes are reflected in the monitoring rules (event rules) set for that group.
The following describes how to modify a target group.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Template menus, in that order.
- Select the target group to modify from the target group list, and then click the [Modify] button.
- Apply the changes in the group modification page, and then click the [Save] button.
- For more details about each item, refer to Create target group.
Delete target group
Deleting the target group also deletes the monitoring rules (event rules) set for that group.
The following describes how to delete a target group.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Template menus, in that order.
- Select the target group to delete from the target group list, and then click the [Delete] button.
- Check the details in the group deletion pop-up window, and then click the [OK] button.
Create rule template
You can create event rules easily with by creating rule templates so that you don't have to configure each metric when setting event rules.
The following describes how to create a rule template.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Template menus, in that order.
- Click the [Rule template] tab.
- Click the [Create rule template] button.
- When the template creation page appears, proceed with the following steps in order.
1. Select metric items
- Select a service to create a template for.
- Metrics that can be monitored in the service are displayed.
- Enter the name and description for the template.
- Click and select metrics to include in the template.
- You can search metrics by entering a metric ID.
- Click the [Next] button.
2. Set and confirm conditions
Set conditions for each metric, click the [Save] button.
- The following describes each item.
- Dimension: dimensions being collected for the monitoring target
- Level: level of the event in case it occurs
- Condition: event triggering condition
- Method: metric's aggregation function
- Duration: metric's duration
- You can select dimension for each metric, and the dimensions being collected are displayed in the Dimension dropdown menu.
- You can select Enter manually to enter dimensions to be collected in the future, even though they are not being collected at the moment, in the key.value format.
- Click to add the same metric.
- Click to delete the metric.
Metric: SERVER/is_on, Level: CRITICAL, Condition: =0, Method: AVG, Duration: 1min
The server's average value for is_on persists to be 0 for one minute or more, so this is considered an event at the critical level.
Modify rule template
If a rule template is modified, then the changes are also reflected to the monitoring rules (event rules) where the template is applied.
The following describes how to modify a rule template.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Template menus, in that order.
- Click the [Rule template] tab.
- Select the rule template to modify from the rule template list, and then click the [Modify] button.
- Apply the changes in the metric item selection step from the template modification pop-up window, and then click the [Next] button.
- Apply the changes in the Set and confirm conditions stage, and then click the [Save] button.
- If there is any event rule affected by the template modification, then a notification pop-up window appears. Check the affected event rules in the notification pop-up window, and then click the [Save] button.
Delete rule template
Deleting a rule template also deletes the monitoring rules (event rules) where the template is applied.
The following describes how to delete a rule template.
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (monitoring) menus, in that order.
- Click the Configuration > Template menus, in that order.
- Click the [Rule template] tab.
- Select the rule template to delete from the rule template list, and then click the [Delete] button.
- Check the details in the template deletion pop-up window, and then click the [OK] button.
