Available in Classic and VPC

You might run into the following problems when using IPsec VPN. Find out causes and possible solutions.

IPsec VPN communication error

An IPsec VPN communication error occurs.

Cause

  • Your network setting has a problem.
  • The Pre-shared Key doesn't match.
  • Your IPsec tunnel setting has a problem.

Solution

  • When setting up the .remote/local band, make sure to set the subnet for the phase 2 band correctly on both sides.

IPsec VPN Gateway creation error

Nothing appears in the IPsec VPN vendor when I create an IPsec VPN Gateway.

Cause

No Virtual Private Gateway Group has been created.

Solution

Create a Virtual Private Gateway Group. For more information on how to create Virtual Private Gateway Group, see Create Virtual Private Gateway in the VPC guide.

Invalid Pre-shared Key

  • I received the message "Invalid Pre-shared Key."
  • I applied a Pre-shared Key configured at the IPsec VPN Tunnel on a public institutional platform to that of an individual/general business platform and received the error message "Invalid Pre-shared Key."

Cause

Pre-shared Keys on individual/general business platforms must be a combination of alphanumeric characters, between 6-256 characters long, and cannot contain special characters.

Solution

  • Make sure your Pre-shared Key doesn't contain special characters.
  • Because the VPNs used by individual/general business and public institutional platforms differ, the requirements for entering a Pre-shared Key are also different. Pre-shared Keys on public institutional platforms must contain special characters, while Pre-shared Keys on individual/general business platforms must not contain special characters.
