User activity

Prev Next

Available in Classic and VPC

In user activity, you can check various metrics about users watching the player, such as recent session information, session information by region, and playback completion rate. You can also analyze video stats based on user activity for each piece of content, such as average viewing time and drop-off rate.

Check user activity metrics

To view the indicators related to user activity:

  1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to Menu > All Services > Media > Video Player Enhancement.
  2. Click Media Analytics.
  3. Click [Go to Media Analytics] at the top of the interface.
  4. Log in with the admin account ID and password.
  5. Click the User activity menu, then select and click the submenu to check.

On each metric interface, you can commonly use the following functions.

  • Filter: You can selectively view desired data using the filters at the top of the interface.
    • Custom: You can save the configured filter values as a custom filter. With the filter set as you desire, click Filter > [Save current filter selection value], enter a name, and save.
    • Initialize: To clear all filters, click [Initialize filters].
  • Save collected data: You can view individually collected data based on the criteria in the list at the bottom of the interface. To save the data locally, click i-vpe_download.

Recent session information

You can view all session log details of the user calling the player.
The following are detailed collection criteria for indicators:

Item Description
Collection target All session logs where 1 minute has elapsed since the time when the last event occurred by a player viewer

Session information by region

You can check the distribution of sessions by province and city in Korea, as well as the number of sessions at the city, county, and district level.

Item Description
Collection target All session logs where 1 minute has elapsed since the time when the last event occurred by a player viewer
Measurement criteria
  • Aggregate sessions by province and city based on IP location information
  • IP regions are based on ISP routing points, so they may differ from the actual user location.

On the session information by region interface, the map zoom in and out functions are provided instead of the data storage function. You can adjust the map display range using the zoom in and out buttons on the left side of the map.

Playback completion rate

Measures the percentage of sessions that reached playback completion (95% or more of the content viewed) out of the total number of sessions.

Item Description
Collection target Percentage of sessions that completed playback (95% or more viewed) out of the total number of sessions
Aggregation criteria
  • Playback is considered complete when 95% or more of the content duration has been viewed.
  • Not applied to live streaming

Average viewing time

You can check the average viewing time per session.

Item Description
Collection target Average viewing time per session is calculated by dividing the total playback time by the number of successful plays.
Aggregation criteria
  • Pause time is not included in playback time
  • Buffering time is excluded from playback time

Drop-off rate

Measures the percentage of sessions that ended within 60 seconds after playback started.

Item Description
Collection target Percentage of sessions that ended within 60 seconds after playback started
Aggregation criteria
  • An exit is considered when the player is closed or playback is stopped within 60 seconds after playback success.
  • A high drop-off rate may indicate that the beginning of the content needs improvement.
