Available in VPC

You might run into the following problems when using Security Monitoring. Find out causes and possible solutions.

Unable to add protection target

Unable to add a protection target to IDS.

Cause

The IDS service is provided for services that are exposed to the public (public IP, load balancer, NAT gateway) via public communication. Protection targets are viewed based on currently used resources.

Solution

  • Check whether the protection target is a service exposed to the public via public communication (public IP, load balancer, NAT gateway).
  • Check that the protection target resource is a currently used resource.
  • We collect customers subject to IDS(V2) billing as of 23:00 every day and you can check on the NAVER Cloud Platform console in i_menu > Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Activity Tracer > Activities > Daily Use Resouce > Details.

Unable to view or download IPS, WAF detection event logs

You cannot view IPS, WAF detection event logs in the dashboard.

Cause

In the Security Monitoring of the VPC platform, only blocking events are viewable in the dashboard for IPS and WAF. To view or download detection and blocking events, the save security logs function must be used.

Solution

Enabling the save security logs function sends and saves security-related logs in the Cloud Log Analytics service. For instructions on enabling the save security logs function, see Save security logs.
Data is stored in Cloud Log Analytics for 30 days, and to permanently store security event logs, periodically set up automatic log export to save them in Object Storage.
