Check snapshot information

Available in VPC

The following describes the feature of snapshots based on hypervisors and the layout of the Snapshot menu page.

Note

Bare metal servers do not provide the snapshot feature.

Characteristics of snapshot based on hypervisors are as follows:

  • XEN-based g1, g2 servers (HDD, SSD)
    • You can create incremental snapshots separately from full storage snapshots.
    • If you create a full storage snapshot, it saves the entire data of the storage based on the creation time.
    • If you create an incremental snapshot, it only saves the changed data of the storage after creating the full storage snapshot.
  • KVM-based g3 servers (CB, FB)
    • CB1, FB1: the capacity of all snapshots, whether full or incremental, is the same.
    • CB2, FB2: the first snapshot is created as a full snapshot, and subsequent snapshots only store the changed data.
    • Additionally, g3 server-based snapshots can create a server image using a created snapshot, but operations on the original storage are not available while snapshots are being created, deleted, or edited.

Snapshot page

To check the snapshot page, click Console > i_menu > Services > Compute > Server > Snapshot in order on the NAVER Cloud Platform portal.

The snapshot result page is laid out as follows:

Area Description
① Menu name Name of the menu currently being checked and the number of created snapshots
② Basic features Features provided upon initial entry to the Snapshot menu
  • [Create storage] button: click to create new storage with the selected snapshot
  • [View snapshot information] button: click to view snapshot information check guide
  • [Learn more about the product] button: click to move to the Block Storage introduction page
  • [Download] button: click to download the snapshot list as an Excel file
  • [Refresh] button: click to refresh the snapshot list

④ Search bar Search for snapshots by snapshot/original storage/full storage snapshot name
  • When searching by full storage snapshot name (view by chain), you can check the chain of full storage snapshots and incremental snapshots
⑤ Details on snapshot Details on created snapshots. See Check snapshot information

Check snapshot information

You can find the detailed information of the created snapshots in the snapshot list.

Note

You can see the snapshot list only when 1 or more snapshots are created. If there is no created snapshot, the snapshot list isn't displayed on the Snapshot page.

To check the snapshot details, follow these steps:

  1. In the VPC environment of the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Compute > Server.
  2. Click the Snapshot menu.
  3. When the list of snapshots appears, view the summary information or click a snapshot to check the details.
    • Snapshot name (Instance ID): snapshot name you entered when creating a server and the automatically assigned unique ID

    • Hypervisor: hypervisor type of the original storage

    • Original storage name: name of the original storage from which the snapshot was created

    • Default storage status (KVM only): whether it is the default storage included in the OS

    • Snapshot type (XEN only): whether it is a full or incremental snapshot

    • Depth (n) (XEN only): depth number of the snapshot

    • Size: capacity of the snapshot provided in GB

      Note
      • The snapshot size for g3 servers refers to the allocated logical capacity (virtual size). If a value is displayed in parentheses, it indicates the actual usage (actual size). Deleting a snapshot may change the actual size of other snapshots from the same source storage.
      • Snapshot billing is based on the capacity criteria shown in parentheses.
    • Status/progress status: current status of the snapshot

      • Creating: status in which the snapshot is being created with the information you entered
      • Created: status in which the snapshot is available for normal use
      • Returning: status in which the snapshot is being deleted
      • Replicating: status in which the current server is being replicated by running Create storage with snapshot
    • Creation date and time: date and time when the snapshot was created

    • Apply encryption to storage: whether to apply encryption to the storage to be created from snapshots
