Available in VPC

In Monitoring, you can view various metrics for clusters and nodes created in Search Engine Service as graphs, and print or download the graphs.

Note
  • The Monitoring feature is provided as part of Search Engine Service at no extra charge.
  • By integrating with Cloud Insight, you can monitor a wider range of metrics and receive alerts by configuring Event Rules. For more information, see Monitor with Cloud Insight.

Monitoring interface

The Monitoring menu for using Search Engine Service includes the following:

Component Description
① Menu name Name of the menu currently in use.
② Basic features Check Search Engine Service details. Refresh page.
③ Cluster Cluster name and status.
④ Node list List of nodes in the selected cluster.
⑤ Tab menu Select the dashboard to view.
⑥ Graph list Select metrics to view (default: All selected).
⑦ View period Select a range from the time Period field or enter it manually.
⑧ Graph Time-based graph of monitoring metrics.

Available metrics

In Monitoring, you can view metrics related to the Search Engine process and node servers.

SE Dashboard

The following metrics are available for the Search Engine process.

Metric Description
Search Rate Total number of search requests per minute
Search Latency Average time to process search requests (ms)
Indexing Rate Total number of indexing tasks per minute
Indexing Latency Average time to process indexing tasks (ms)
Node Count Number of nodes currently in operation
Documents Total Total number of documents
Indices Total Total number of indices
Shards Total Total number of shards
Disk Used Disk usage
Process Status Search Engine process status.
  • 1: alive.
  • 0: dead
JVM Memory Pressure Maximum Java heap memory usage (%)
JVM GC Young Collection Count Number of garbage collection executions for the young generation
JVM GC Young Collection Time Time spent performing garbage collection for the young generation (ms)
JVM GC Old Collection Count Number of garbage collection executions for the old generation
JVM GC Old Collection Time Time spent performing garbage collection for the old generation (ms)

OS Dashboard

The following metrics are available for node servers.

Metric Description
CPU Usage CPU usage
Load Average Server load
Memory Usage Memory usage
Swap Swap memory generation
Disk Used Disk usage
Disk I/O Disk input and output throughput
Network I/O NIC generation per second
Free Memory Available memory (Free + Buffer / Cache)
Free Storage Space Free storage space

Cluster monitoring

To view cluster metrics as graphs and print or download them:

  1. In the VPC environment on the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Big Data & Analytics > Search Engine Service.
  2. Click the Monitoring menu.
  3. From the cluster list, select the cluster to view monitoring information.
  4. Select the metrics to view (default: All selected), and select or manually enter a time range.
  5. Review the graph.
    • Hover over a graph to view exact values.
    • Hover over i-ses-download to display a menu for printing or downloading the graph.
      • Print chart: Print the graph.
      • Download PNG image: Download the graph as a PNG file.
      • Download JPEG image: Download the graph as a JPEG file.
      • Download PDF document: Download the graph as a PDF file.

Node monitoring

To view node metrics as graphs and print or download them:

  1. In the VPC environment on the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to i_menu > Services > Big Data & Analytics > Search Engine Service.
  2. Click the Monitoring menu.
  3. From the cluster list, select the cluster that contains the node you want to monitor, then click the node.
  4. Depending on the metrics you want to view, click the [SE Dashboard] tab or the [OS Dashboard] tab.
  5. Select the metrics to view (default: All selected), and select or manually enter a time range.
  6. Review the graph.
    • Hover over a graph to view exact values.
    • Hover over i-ses-download to display a menu for printing or downloading the graph.
      • Print chart: Print the graph.
      • Download PNG image: Download the graph as a PNG file.
      • Download JPEG image: Download the graph as a JPEG file.
      • Download PDF document: Download the graph as a PDF file.
