    Article Summary

    Available in VPC

You can monitor the performance and operational indicators of the clusters created by the Search Engine Service in integration with NAVER Cloud Platform's Cloud Insight. You can set up notifications based on monitoring conditions to quickly respond to cluster failures.

    Note

If you want to monitor with Cloud Insight, apply to use Cloud Insight.

    Create dashboards and widgets

You can use Cloud Insight's dashboard to view indicators for clusters created by the Search Engine Service at a glance. You can configure dashboards at your convenience by adding various widgets.

    Note

This section provides a brief description of only what is required to use the Search Engine Service. For more information about dashboards and widgets in Cloud Insight, see Dashboard.

The following is how to create dashboards and widgets for monitoring a cluster of the Search Engine Service in Cloud Insight:

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Dashboard menu.
    3. Click the [Create dashboard] button.
    4. When the creation pop-up window appears, enter a dashboard name and click the [Create] button.
    5. Click the [Add widget] button.
    6. Enter the widget's name, select the widget type, and then click the [Next] button.
    7. Click the [Next] button after entering settings information.
      • Product Type: select Search Engine Service (VPC)
      • Target: select monitoring targets
        • Group: select monitoring target group. You can create a group by clicking the [Create monitoring group] button.
        • All resources held: select from resources created by the Search Engine Service
      • Metric: select a monitoring item
        • Template: select a monitoring template. You can create a template by clicking the [Create monitoring template] button.
        • All metrics: select from all monitoring items (refer to Product list for all monitoring items)
      • Setting data list: select the dimension (property), view cycle, and aggregation method of the selected monitoring item
    8. After checking the set widget details, click the [Create] button.
      • The widget will be added to the dashboard.

    Monitoring conditions and notification settings

You can create an Event Rule in Cloud Insight to set monitoring conditions and notifications for clusters in the Search Engine Service. You can quickly respond to cluster failures by setting up notifications when an Event occurs.

    Note

This section provides a brief description of only what is required to use the Search Engine Service. For more information about the Event Rule, see Event Rule.

The following describes how to create event rules in Cloud Insight and configure notifications when an event occurs:

    1. From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, click the Services > Management & Governance > Cloud Insight (Monitoring) menus, in that order.
    2. Click the Configuration > Event Rule menus, in that order.
    3. Click the [Create Event Rules] button.
    4. Click Search Engine Service (VPC), and then click the [Next] button.
    5. Set the monitoring target and click the [Next] button.
      • View group: select monitoring target group. You can create a group by clicking the [Create group] button.
      • View all: select a monitoring target from among the resources created by the Search Engine Service
    6. Set the monitoring item and click the [Next] button.
      • View template: select a monitoring template. You can create a template by clicking the [Create template] button.

      • View all: select monitoring items among all monitoring items, and set event conditions

      • You can quickly detect failures in a cluster by configuring Event Rules for the following metrics.

      MetricData typeUnitDescriptionSetting recommended conditions
cluster_node_countFLOATnumNumber of nodes in operation< Number of all nodes
      elasticsearch_process_statusFLOATnumElasticsearch process status
      • 1: alive
      • 0: dead
      < 1
disk_freeFLOATnumFree storage capacity (GB)< 10% of the data node storage capacity 10%
( if the storage capacity is 100 GB, < 10)
    Caution

In the case of cluster_node_count metric, it is recorded only on the manager node, so be careful in setting the monitoring target.

    1. On the [Send notification message] tab, set the Notification target group and notification method when an event occurs, and click the [Next] button.
      • Clicking the [Create notification recipient group] button will launch the Notification Recipient menu page where you can create a notification recipient group (refer to Create recipient group).
    2. Enter a rule name, check the setting information, and then click the [Create] button.
