Available in Classic and VPC
A Traffic Policy is a load balancing policy that operates on incoming traffic. It stores load balancing algorithms and response resource information. By configuring health checks and backup resources for resources in a Traffic Policy, you can ensure service continuity.
You can create and manage Traffic Policies in the Traffic Policy menu.

View the Traffic Policy list
To view information about created Traffic Policies:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Networking > Global Traffic Manager. - Click the Traffic Policy menu.
- When the Traffic Policy list appears, review the summary information or click Traffic Policy to view details.
- Traffic Policy name: The Traffic Policy name entered at creation.

- [View all]: View the full list of associated Traffic Profiles.
- Created date and time: The date and time when the Traffic Policy was created.
- Resource status: Click [View] to check the list and status of configured resources.
- If no Traffic Profile is associated or no health check is configured, the resource status (Status) is displayed as N/A.
- Health Check: Whether health check settings are applied and the configuration details.
- [Test]: Enabled when health check settings are Applied. Click to run a real-time health check on the configured resources.
Create a Traffic Policy
To create a Traffic Policy:
- In the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Networking > Global Traffic Manager. - Click the Traffic Policy menu.
- Click [Create Traffic Policy].
- When the Create a Traffic Policy screen appears, complete the following steps in order:
1. Traffic Policy settings
Enter the Traffic Policy name and select the load balancing algorithm to apply.
- Enter the Traffic Policy name.
- Click the algorithm dropdown menu and select a load balancing algorithm.
- Round Robin: Resources respond to requests sequentially.
- Weight Based: Traffic is distributed based on the weight assigned to each resource.
- Geolocation: Traffic is distributed based on the user's location.
- CIDR: Traffic is distributed based on the user's IP address range.
2. Resource settings
Configure the responding resources according to the selected algorithm.
When Round Robin or Weight Based is selected
When Round Robin or Weight Based is selected from the algorithm, configure the resources as follows:
- Click the [Basic settings] or the [Advanced settings] tab to select whether to assign backup resources.
- [Basic settings] tab: Do not assign backup resources.
- [Advanced settings] tab: Assign backup resources. Health check settings are required (see 3. Health check settings).
- Select a resource type and enter the resource according to the selected type.
- Type: Click the dropdown menu and select a resource type.
- External public IP: A public IP that was not created in the NAVER Cloud Platform.
- External Domain: A domain that was not created in the NAVER Cloud Platform.
- Health check Region: Enabled when the resource type is External Public IP. Click the dropdown menu and select a Region to support health checks.
- Weight (%): When the Weight Based algorithm is selected, enter the weight for each resource.
- Enter the total weight so that the sum equals 100.
: Click to add a resource input field.
: Click to delete a resource input field.- When the [Advanced settings] tab is selected, enter backup resources for each resource.
- Type: Click the dropdown menu and select a resource type.
When Geolocation or CIDR is selected
When Geolocation or CIDR is selected from the algorithm, configure the resources as follows:
- Click the [Basic settings] or the [Advanced settings] tab to select whether to assign backup resources.
- [Basic settings] tab: Do not assign backup resources.
- [Advanced settings] tab: Assign backup resources. Health check settings are required (see 3. Health check settings).
- Click the Map selection dropdown menu and select the Geo/CIDR Map to apply.
- [Create Map]: Click to create a Map (see Create Geo/CIDR Map).
: Click to refresh the Map list in the Map selection dropdown menu.
- For each Zone/CIDR block, select a resource type and enter the resource.
- When you hover over a Zone/CIDR block name, the region or IP address range assigned to the Zone/CIDR block is displayed.
- When the [Advanced settings] tab is selected, enter backup resources for each resource.
- Type: Click the dropdown menu and select a resource type.
3. Health check settings
Select whether to enable health checks.
- Disable: Select this option and click [OK] to complete Traffic Policy creation.
- Enable: Select this option and configure the health check.
Health checks for external domains are not supported.
To configure the health check and complete Traffic Policy creation:
-
Click the [Basic settings] or the [Advanced settings] tab to select the settings to configure.
- [Basic settings] tab: Configure the access information for health checks.
