You can convert original media files stored in Object Storage to view them in various image qualities across multiple devices, such as mobile and PC.
Create category
After creating a category and adding the original file, you can encode the video.
To create a category for encoding:

From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Media > VOD Station. -
Click the Category menu and click [Create category].

Enter the category name and configure each item.

- Any item marked with "•" is a required field.
- In Encoding settings, select Simple template settings to use encoding presets that are combined based on the content type. If you select Enabled, click [Add] to select up to 5 encoding presets from the list of video and audio encoding presets.
- You can also create a new encoding preset using the detailed preset settings. For more information, see Create preset.
- In Output file path, you can set the Object Storage bucket where the original file is stored, and the directory path for storing the encoded output. If no Object Storage bucket exists, click
to create a new bucket. - In Advanced settings, select Enabled to trim the file by setting the playback start and end segments, or to configure watermark or image insertion (PNG or TGA files).

After configuring the settings, click [Create].

In the confirmation popup, review the details and click [Create].
Create preset
You can create a new preset using the default encoding preset settings provided in VOD Station.
To create a new preset:
- In Encoding settings of the Create category interface, select Enabled and click [Add].
- Select the default preset to use and click [OK].
- Click [Detailed settings] in the added preset item.
- In the confirmation popup, click [OK].
- In the settings popup, enter the setting name and configure each item.
- After configuring the settings, click [Save].
- The newly created preset is directly applied to the category being created and is also added to Custom.
- To delete a created preset, click [Delete settings] in the corresponding preset's settings popup.
- The mapping values in the pricing plan table vary depending on the configured codec, resolution, pass, and frame rate settings, so keep this in mind when configuring the settings.
Encode a new file
You can convert media files using the created category.
To convert a media file:
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Media > VOD Station. - Click the Category menu and click [Encode new file] of the category you want to use for conversion from the list.
- Select an input file.
- You can select Object Storage's origin or an HTTP download URL as the input file.
- Select Object Storage
- You can select a file in your own Object Storage.
- HTTP download URL
- You can enter the original URL available for HTTP download.
- You can enter up to 2048 characters for the download URL.
- Select an output file path.
- You can save the output file to a separate path, other than the default path set during category creation.
- Select a thumbnail output file path.
- You can set a path to store the thumbnail.
- You can configure advanced settings.
- You can set the start and end points for encoding.
- You can select an image insert.
- Click [OK].
- After conversion, the saved file name is automatically set to the "[original file name]_[resolution]" format.
View task progress status
You can view the conversion task's progress status and related information.
To view a task progress status:
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Media > VOD Station. - Click the Status menu and check the progress and information.

Manage category
You can change category settings from the category list and delete unused categories.
Change category settings
To change category settings:
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Media > VOD Station. - Click the Category menu.
- Select a category from the list and click [Category settings].
- After configuring the settings, click [Edit].
- In the confirmation popup, click [OK].
- If encoding settings are not applied to a category, [OUTPUT settings] appears in the category list. Click this button to change the category name, encoding settings, and advanced settings.
- Changed settings do not affect previously converted files and apply only to files converted after the changes are made.
Delete category
To delete a category:
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Media > VOD Station. - Click the Category menu.
- Select a category from the list and click [Delete category].
- In the confirmation popup, click [OK].
Even if you delete a category, the related folders and files created in the Object Storage bucket remain. Delete the corresponding folders and files directly from Object Storage.
