Observer is a feature that monitors status and property information of resources in NAVER Cloud Platform. You can define monitoring conditions for resources to inspect the detection status whenever resources are created and changed, and notify the administrator when detected.
In Observer, you can create and manage observers and check the list of detected resources. Also, using the Cloud Activity Tracer logs, you can view the resource task history and task details.
Observer interface
The basic description of the Observer menu for using Resource Manager is as follows:

Create observer
To create an observer:
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Management & Governance > Resource Manager. - Click the Observer menu.
- Click the [Create observer].
- Enter the Basic information on the observer creation interface.
- Observer name: Enter the observer name.
- Alphabet, numbers, and certain special letters (-, _) are allowed.
- Description: Enter the description of the new observer.
- Monitored resource type:
- Product: Select the monitored product and its corresponding resource type.
- Tag: Select a tag if you want to monitor only resources with a specific tag within the selected resource type of the product.
- Observer name: Enter the observer name.
- Set monitoring conditions: Set the status and property condition for the monitoring target.
- The monitored items you can set at Monitoring target's resource type for each selected resource type are the following:

- The monitored items you can set at Monitoring target's resource type for each selected resource type are the following:
- In the Action item, select the notification conditions and method for when a resource that meets the monitoring condition is detected.
- Condition: Select the triggering condition for either Alarming on all the resource changes meeting monitoring conditions or Alarming only changes in coincidence with monitoring conditions.
- Action: Click the [Set] to select the notification method for detected resources.
- Recipients: Select the recipients and notification method, Email, SMS, or SMS+Email, for when a resource is detected.
- You need to first register the admin to add notification recipients. Click the [Manage notification recipients] to register an administrator. For more information, see Notification recipient.
- Additional communication fees are charged when using SMS notifications.
- Cloud Functions: When a resource is detected, a registered action in Cloud Functions is triggered.
- You can only select an Action that is already registered in Cloud Functions. For more information, see Create action.
- Recipients: Select the recipients and notification method, Email, SMS, or SMS+Email, for when a resource is detected.
- In the tag component, enter the tag Key:Value to classify observers.
- Click the [Apply].
- An inspection is performed when the status of a monitored resource changes.
- When creating or changing an observer, an inspection for monitored resources is performed, but actions are not performed.
View observer information and detected resources
To check the information of a created observer and resources detected by the observer:

From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Management & Governance > Resource Manager. -
Click the Observer menu.

From the observer list, click the target observer to check the details.
- Observer name: Observer name designated when the observer was created.
- Monitoring type: Observer's monitoring condition type.
- Description: Observer description entered when the observer was created.
- Monitoring condition: The number of monitoring conditions set to the observer.
- View details: Click to show the set list of monitoring conditions.
- Target platform: Platform where the target resource belongs.
- Detected resources: The number of resources detected by the observer's monitoring conditions.
- Click Detected or Check resources to show the list of detected resources.
- Product: Services to which the target resource belongs.
- Specifying action: Notification settings and alarm occurrence conditions in observer.
- Click View details to change the notification settings. For more information, see 6. of Create observer.
- Monitored resource type: Monitored resource type.
- Specified condition: The condition under which the action is performed when a resource is detected.
- Target tag: The tag condition for the monitored resource type.
- Tag: Assign tag keys/values to easily classify observers.
- View, create, edit, and delete all tags through [Tag management].
- Only 1 tag value can be assigned to 1 tag key.

Click the Detected of the Detected resources or Check resources to check the list of detected resources.
- If you click the [Resource task history] on the resource list popup window, you can move to the search result of the resource's task history in Cloud Activity Tracer > Activities. For more information about this menu, see Activities.
Change observer
You can change monitoring conditions and action settings for created observers. To change the observer settings:
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Management & Governance > Resource Manager. - Click the Observer menu.
- Click the targeted observer from the observer list and the [Change].
- Change the Set monitoring conditions and Action setting and click the [Apply].
- For more information about each setting item, see Create observer.
- When creating or changing an observer, an inspection for monitored resources is performed, but actions are not performed.
- If the observer is created with the option "alarming only changes in coincidence with monitoring conditions," for resources previously created, an alarm occurs in line with a resource change even if its status is unchanged.
Observer's monitoring condition detects the resource's change by its creation time, and for resources previously created, the observer automatically detects its status update and an alarm occurs.
Delete observer
To delete a created observer:
- From the NAVER Cloud Platform console, navigate to
> Services > Management & Governance > Resource Manager. - Click the Observer menu.
- Click the target observer in the observer list and click the [Delete].
- Once the Delete popup window appears, click the [Delete].
