    Check the original server (Linux)

Before you create the server image, you can check the errors of the original server. After you confirm there are no problems through Ncloud Tool Kit and manual check, create the server image.

    Checking the Ncloud Tool Kit

You can check errors through Ncloud Tool Kit. You can check it as follows:

    1. Check /etc/resolv.conf file

If the /etc/resolv.conf file is changed, an error may occur when you create server image. Check the config setting of the /etc/resolv.conf file.

    nameserver 169.254.169.53
    nameserver 169.254.169.54

    2. Check /etc/fstab file

An error may occur when creating the server image due to /etc/fstab setting errors. For more information, see Set auto mount (fstab).

    Manual check

You can check errors through a manual check.
Reboot the original server and check if the status of the original server changes to Running.

    Create My server image

You can create an image of the current status for a server you're using. Server information including OS, software, storage configuration is saved to the image.

    Caution
    • Server images created based on g1 and g2 servers are saved in a storage, and the storage fee is charged for the sum of the default storage capacity and added storage capacity of the server selected to create the server image.
    • The server images created in g3 servers are combinations of snapshots, so the fee of server images are replaced with the fee of snapshot combinations.
    Note
    • You can only create the server image while the server is Stopped or Running. Check the original server before you create the server image. For more information about how to check the original server, see Check the original server (Linux).
    • The larger the capacity of the additional disks and the more data they have, the longer it takes to create the server image. To shorten the time it takes to create a server image, remove additional disks before creating the image.
    • g3 server images are combinations of snapshots, so snapshots are created along with the server images. If you create server image in the snapshot, it does not create snapshots additionally.

The following describes how to create a server image.

    1. Click the environment you are using in the Region menu and Platform menu of NAVER Cloud Platform console.
    2. Click the Services > Compute > Server menus, in that order.
    3. Click the Server menu.
    4. From the server list, select the server to create the image from, and then click the [Manage servers and change settings] button.
    5. Click Create My server image.
    6. Enter the server image name, and then click the [Create] button.
      • You can enter server image names between 3-30 characters and they must begin with an English letter. Uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are allowed.
      • The server image name can't be duplicated for use.
      • In g3 servers, you can change the size of default storage or create an additional storage.
        • When adding a storage, select the name, snapshot to reflect, size, and type of the storage.
    7. Check the pop-up message and click the [OK] button.
      • The server image is created.
    Note
    • It may take several minutes or longer for the server image to be created. While creating the server image, the server status is displayed as Replicating, and once the image creation is complete, it is displayed again as Running.
    • You can view the created server image from the Server image menu.
    • If the original server check was performed, but an error occurred during server image creation or rebooting, you can force stop and force terminate it. For more information, see Force stop and force terminate.
