Available in Classic and VPC
Global Traffic Manager is a service that reliably load balances network traffic based on DNS. By building infrastructure across global regions owned by NAVER Cloud Platform and synchronizing settings, we provide the fastest possible response speed and reliable service regardless of the end user's location. It can be used by connecting to services such as Load Balancer and Global DNS of NAVER Cloud Platform, and you can set health checks to ensure resource availability and continuity.
Various Features Offered by Global Traffic Manager
The following is a description of various features provided by Global Traffic Manager.
- Fast Response Speed: Quick response to user requests in each region of the world owned by NAVER Cloud Platform
- Various Branch Processing Algorithm Support: Supports various branch processing algorithms, and can set backup resources in all algorithms
- Global DNS connection: Service can be configured by connecting to Global DNS, such as connecting the domain of Global Traffic Manager with the domain record in Global DNS.
- Health Check and Health Check Log Service: By activating the health check feature, you can exclude/include the resource from the response target according to the resource status, and you can analyze the health check log and export by connecting to Cloud Log Analytics.
- Geo Map and CIDR Map settings: Geo Map needed for branching by continent and country and CIDR Map needed for IP address band branching can be configured and used as desired.

Q. What are the load balancing algorithms that I can set up in Global Traffic Manager and what resources can I add?
A. You can use 4 types of load balancing algorithms, Round Robin, Weight Based, GeoLocation, and CIDR. The following is the additional resource types and descriptions for each algorithm.
Algorithm | Resource type | Number of resources | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Round Robin | External public IP, external domain (mixable) | Up to 16 | Resources response to requests fairly and sequentially. |
Weight Based | Putting weights to the traffic amount per resource enables dividing traffics when requested. | ||
Geolocation | You can configure the Geo Map that suits the customer and divide the traffic per continent or nation based on user locations. | ||
CIDR | You can configure the CIDR Map that suits the customer and divide the traffic based on the user IP address bandwidth. |
Q. What is the procedure to configure Global Traffic Manager?
A. Global Traffic Manager is configured through the following procedure.
- Setting load balancing algorithms and resources by creating Traffic Policy
- Setting domain and TTL by creating Traffic Profile
- Monitoring the number of requests per domain
When setting a Geolocation or CIDR algorithm, you must first create a Geo/CIDR Map.
For more details about each procedure, refer to Global Traffic Manager Scenario.
Q. What are the types of resources that can be checked in Global Traffic Manager?
A. Currently, only external public IPs can be checked for health. Health check is not supported for external domains.
