    Article Summary

    Available in Classic and VPC

Server is NAVER Cloud Platform's service that allows you to create and use servers in a cloud environment without purchasing physical server resources. As this service enables you to swiftly create servers, and you can pay as you go, you can use it efficiently when you want to reduce the burden on infrastructure operations or when many server resources are required temporarily.

    Various features offered by Server

See below for descriptions about the various features offered by server.

    • Convenient server creation: you can easily create servers in minutes using the web-based console. The server is provided according to the selected server image, even if without installation of a separate operating system. You can adjust the CPU or memory of the server being used through the specifications change feature.
    • Provision of monitoring feature: basic monitoring features are available for the CPU, network, memory, and disk. With the monitoring service, you can receive event notifications according to server status changes.
    • Enhanced security: by default, a security setting (Security Hardening) for reinforcement of security is applied to all Linux and Windows servers provided by NAVER Cloud Platform. If you need to receive consultations or send inquiries regarding the application of strict security settings in addition to the basic security settings, then you can get help from security professionals.
    • Efficient cost management: you can plan your expense management since the fees are only charged for the capacity and the amount of time you use the servers. You can easily add or terminate servers during service operation, which enables efficient management of expenses as well as quick and flexible response to various circumstances.
    • Broad server specifications: a variety of server specifications are available so you can choose a server with the desired specifications. It can be divided into three generations of servers. The g1 and g2 servers are based on the XEN hypervisor and the g3 servers on KVM hypervisor.
    • Various types of block storage: easily add additional storage if you need more than the default storage provided at the time of server creation. Configurable to suit your use.
      • g1/g2 servers: choose HDD for simple data storage and SSD for fast data processing.
      • g3 servers: choose FB1 for sequential processing of mass data and CB1 for random processing of small amount of data.
    • SSD server: SSD servers that provide high-performance I/O 10 to 20 times faster than standard servers are supported. The SSD server guarantees 4000 IOPS (input/output operations per second), and since its performance increases in proportion to the storage space, it can stably process jobs.
    • GPU server: Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is a computing resource optimized for simultaneous high performance processing. The GPU server is applicable to various fields, such as image processing, rendering, scientific computing, and machine learning.
    • Bare metal server: the bare metal server service is provided, which exclusively provides high-performance physical servers without virtualized environments. Since it is using dedicated servers that do not get affected by other cloud users, services that are sensitive to performance can always be operated stably. It is effective when large inputs and outputs occur or when swift response is required, and you can enjoy both the convenience of cloud services and the stability of hosting services.
    Note

g3 servers are only supported in the VPC environment in the Korea Region
